Apparently Chelsea are willing to sell him for £5m to the pigs

For me he was their standout player in both fixtures last season, won everything and never gave our strikers a sniff.

Apparently has 10 months left on contract so £5m might be too much to pay - but for me i would have him for just a little bit less than £5m.

Be worth the transfer fee alone if he snubs the pigs and signs for us.

But my footballing brain really likes him - was a standout performer for them.

Good in the air. Ask Gary Madine 😠.

Would be a Bombscare at PL level.

Nooooooooooooo way ze !

He's crap and considering how they are creaming themselves over the prospect of signing him, just shows how far they are away from us. As said above, he would be a liability in our team.

It would be hilarious if we did just for the porktalk meltdown.

However I don’t think he’s any better than what we have. I prefer Egan in that C-CB slot with Jags as cover and I think Bash plays the marauding R-CB slot better than Hector would.

If he was a bit cheaper then as a young-ish squad player then why not but 5 million is a bit rich. I thought he was actually the best performer on the pitch in the derby game last season though.

We already have better.

That said, give CW and AK time on the training ground with him then he is still young enough to bring his game on and develop the distribution side of his game.

He already has the stopper element sorted, it's the other part that is required. Strangely enough I wouldn't be against this move if it was to happen (which it won't). Egan's distribution and general play has improved immeasurably since he was signed. Hector could be similar in that respect. £5m though for a potential future PL 'project' is still a fair bit of money though.

Like people have already said, he was immense for them bastards in the derby games. Nobody was getting past.
We're going to need a brick wall in some games next season and I think Big Hec could be it. 10/10 signing for comedy value too!

Best suited to a man marking Job in a back ten
Probably not good enough on the ball to play for us but would fit in well at the hoofers

I suggested Big Mick a few times over this close season, and got the same responses you are getting Lmaobob.

Like you said, nowt got past him in the games against the pigs, their player of the year too, imposing figure.

There are going to be plenty of games where we will have a ten man defence and he fits in with that very well.

Put him in the Pontus bracket, there's a reason the only club willing to pay what in this market is a small fee... That despite what Wednesday may think, he is nowhere near good enough for the prem.

Especially the way we play where defenders have to be outstanding in isolated situations. Any 6 foot 4 defender can look decent when they play in a system that is so defensive it traps the oppo into lumping balls in to the box.

Nowhere near good enough his distribution is horrendous

Sometimes you need defenders who are very good at heading, tackling, and clearing the lines at the back. The rest can be worked on and developed.

There will be more times than ever next season when we need the essential defensive skills from our players as mentioned above.

Haven't Arsenal and Man Utd been accused before of not having enough out and out stoppers at the back and conceding too many goals? Give me a Vidic or a Stam anytime over a more easy on the eye accomplished player like Smalling.

Hector isn't better than Egan or Jags, maybe a little better than Stearman. Couldn't play RCB how we play it. No.

He's ideally suited to the challenge of the Championship with its more physical demands but I don't want him for the PL, he'd only be suited to Egan's role and Egan is rarely unfit, shouldn't say that, and we've got Stearman as back-up.

No way is he better than our current centre backs, sure he can compete physically in a "head it kick it" way but not good enough with the ball at his feet. Decent mid Championship player but that is about it.
