Well we are getting linked with plenty of midfielders!

Sheffield United hope to tie up a £750,000 deal for Bristol City's Scottish winger Michael McIndoe.

Blades boss Kevin Blackwell is close to agreeing a fee for the fiery McIndoe, who joined City from Wolves after making his name with Doncaster.

City are prepared to let McIndoe go as they have lined up Manchester United's highly-rated squad man Lee Martin as his replacement in a £1.5million swoop.

Always thought McIndoe was a complete arse.

Maybe be a decent signing though.

I've always rated McIndoe. Much better player than Martin anyway :p

After hearing his interview this afternoon, the Star are reporting what I was suspicious of...

Gary Johnson says he's close to agreeing a deal to bring an unnamed player in the opposite direction

Cotts making his way back? :)

Its interesting that Gary Johnson says that the player going the other way may also be interested in an offer from abroad. Cant see that being Squinny, but possibly, hopefully, Hendrie at the twilight of his career?
The City fans mostly want rid of MMc in the Online Bristol newspaper, mostly because of his bad attitude [which we could certainly do without]. They say he cant cross a ball and passes too often to the opposing team.:(:(

We have enough players like that.

Personally reckon it could be Hendrie too, dont think it would be Sharp they'll use him as a makeweight for a deal for Beckford if Blackie doesnt get Evans. IMO

The player in question is David Carney (hence the offers from abroad bit). The deal is supposedly £400k + Carney, if he's willing to go there.

As far as i'm concerned carney can go fcuk himself, i'm not too fussed about hendrie going either tbh, but having said that mcindoe doesn't fill me with glee either.
Yes i know i'm a miserable bugger

Because it's us you're talking about: we don't know how to do things the quick and easy way.

I really think it has a lot to do with Terry Robinson, the guy is a bufoon, and i really don't trust him as far as i can throw him. Which by the looks of the amount of pies he eats, it isn't far!

From the Bristol City OS :

Michael McIndoe's proposed move to Sheffield United has fallen through.

The winger has returned to Ashton Gate and could play some part in tomorrow night's showpiece friendly against Ajax.

Manager Gary Johnson explained to bcfc.co.uk: "Sheffield United are pleading poverty a little bit and I think they need to bring some finances in.

"Michael feels he's waited long enough. We agreed a fee with them a long time ago; they asked us to wait and Macca to wait until they came back from Malta.

"Macca felt he needed to have an answer, yes or no, and it's a no.

"Michael's back with us, he's a part of our squad and he'll compete for a place like everyone else."

Gary Johnson

"It was a bit out of order, in my opinion, keeping us and him waiting. They'd agreed a fee, and terms with the player.

"Macca called me and said 'whatever happens now I don't really want to go there'.

He added: "It's important we make clear it was the two clubs who agreed the deal, the first Macca knew anything about it was when he was sent to Sheffield for talks.

"It wasn't him that wanted to leave the club.

"He's back with us, he's a part of our squad and he'll compete for a place like everyone else."

Interesting....

True, but why were we waiting?

There's something not right financially at Bramall Lane, and the board need to tell the fans what's going on.

Is there though?
Maybe they just don't want to give in straight away to player demands and the 'pleading poverty' comment may have just been because we didn't accept all of Bristol/Mcindoes demands.

They don't have to tell us anything, unless we're share holders and we can all see the accounts (to a point) at the end of the year (I think)

The deal and personal terms were agreed though, the transfer was done, we jsut didn't complete it and handover the money.

I'm a shareholder, and I'm looking forward to the next meeting because I'm interested to see what they have to say about what's going off.

Something was off with the deal as if it had all been right then Mcindoe wuld have gone to Malta with the team.

There maybe something both sides aren't telling about it, failed fitness test maybe??

Just guess work from us really though.
If it's not right for the management at united then that's enough for me to not worry about it no matter what other teams / players say.

IM not too bothered to be honest he seemed a bit of an ass! Possibly now the funds are coming in they have seen a more up Market player?

Either way I didn't really like the idea of signing a player with bad attitude, disrupts the team! And that's what the Bristol fans thought of him.

Think we might see the smith and otoole saga go to pot if there's financial trouble. Something smells fishy and it ain't the leftover tuna in the fridge!

As i suggested in another thread, i think we're waiting on the Kyle cash before sealing any transfers. With Spurs now in the mix it's delayed things, that would also explain the non-conclusion of Smith and O'Toole. McIndoe just wants closure I guess, as he wanted to get on with playing, can't really blame him for that.

The more worrying matter is, why did we have to wait for the cash. Why didn't we have a few hundred grand to pay Bristol.

There is something strange going on and the fans need to know

looks like we are top of the popularity league with another manager and club then.

IMO the reason the deal has fallen through is because we've canceled the deal ourselves, now that we can sign julian gray of a free, he's already proved he's good enough
