Kevin McCabe, United's plc Chairman, has clarified the club's position regarding manager Neil Warnock's contract amid constant media speculation.

It has been widely reported that the United manager's contract is set for expiry next summer, whilst some sources have gone as far as to tout him for other jobs, mainly due to United's excellent start to the Championship season.

However, Mr McCabe said on ******day: "We have an option to extend Neil's contract at the end of the season so, to all intents and purposes, his contract does not end until June 2007.

"As far as we are concerned the Board has a fantastic relationship with Neil and will look again at the situation later in the season, as is the norm."

Warnock has been in charge at Bramall Lane since December 1999 and the Blades fan is one of the longest serving managers in the Football League.

Only been said due to all the paper trash being printed at the mo. Nice to hear an official statement though!!

Certainly a new step forward in the history of the Lane, telling things to fans :)

What next, a ticket office that actually works?!?

Don't get me started with the ticket office, just spent 20 minutes on the phone, and all i wanted to ask was have they sent my dad his tickets for the millwall / ******day game because i ordered them sunday!

Heard Neil on Radio Sheffield this afternoon saying he wasn't over the moon that he hasn't been offered a new contract by now.

He also said he couldn't see anyone in a position such he's in being left like he has been.

Or words to that effect.

I think he'll get a better deal in the new year if we are still flying. He would be in a very strong position by then.

The thing is, it's been stated over and over again that Warnock's position will be reviewed at the end of the season. He doesn't need a new contract in the new year because he'll get one if (when) we're promoted. If we don't even qualify for the play-offs, it means we have to throw a hell of a lot away and in which case he'll deserve bloody sacking!

No matter how many times Warnock says he's staying to fulfil his lifelong dream of managing his beloved Blades in the Premiership, it doesn't make as newsworthy story as when some 2-bob journo asks Milan Mandaric "do you like Neil Warnock" and Milan answers "Yeah, he's alright". All of a sudden he's on his way? Bollocks.

We'll have a better idea in Jan if we're finally going to keep going and get promotion. If we do, can't see NW turning down a new contract offer after all the time it's taken us to get to the Prem.....whereas if we fail to go up, it's probably still time for a change, despite how well we're doing just now.

As for the ticket office - Millwall and Leicester tickets finally arrived today, whohoo! :)

Cutting it a bit fine these days at the ticket office!

Me and Foxy ought to start buying tickets for the faraway Blades and sending 'em out :) You'd have had your leicester tickets last W*dnesday!

We all know it's all a load of shit in the paper anyway about him going, Ilaughed my head off at the thought of Warnock and McCall going to Rangers when I heard that one.

On the subject of the ticket office, we ordered milwall/piggies tickets for the Kop, milwall came through ok but we have ended up in south stand for pigs game and no explanation as to why, we ordered early enough and we only wanted 3 tickets.

The only thing to have improved is Foxy & Linz excellent website , with it's up to the minute Blades chat & news , and I look forward to buying them several ale's of there choice when over in Dec , v Swindon . Keep up the good work , and remember to fuck the begrudgers . Sycophants of the world unite ;) .
