It's about time the likes of Chelsea and Man City were capped completely from trying to stockpile young footballers.

I don’t necessarily agree with it but there is an argument that it’s better for a young players development to work with better coach’s and facilities rather that league 2 cloggers.

What should probably be in place is a wage cap for players under a certain age, to prevent these clubs pricing other clubs out of youth players.

Anyone else find this highly distasteful and disrespectful for the rest of the football league?

Hoovering up all the best young talent, just because you have an endless pot of money (so it seems). In so doing, denying other clubs the opportunity of getting value from their academy system, whilst equally stunting the careers and growth of those same players, who play U21 and reserve football all their early life.

Greedy effing tossers then parade it out like it’s a debutante ball for suitors to come along and solicit their wares.

Clubs should have a limit as to how many players they can have on their books, in age cohorts, between the ages of 16-21. If they want to add a new one they need to release another.

Give others a chance to develop and get some return. It might just fund that club for a season or more and the fans will have seen a player put the shift in for them, whilst they are developing.

The major problem is that the salaries they are paid probably exceeds what a normal championship/league 1 club can afford, this system just produces players who are happy to sit building up their bank balances for the first 5 years of their careers and gives them no experience of mens football ,by the time they get released most are totally useless and just fade into non league/lower level football. I've seen really good prospects at 16/17/18 just disappear.
It does them no favours especially if they have parents who also see pound signs,
