Marcus Bent wants to stay at Wolves

Wolves’ on-loan striker Marcus Bent has insisted he wants to stay at Molineux.

The much-travelled 32-year-old, who has been told he can leave Birmingham, is due to end his loan spell at Molineux after tomorrow’s clash with Chelsea.

Bent has not yet been told whether Wolves want to keep him, although manager Mick McCarthy is keen to bring in another striker this month.

But despite being fifth choice behind Sylvan Ebanks-Blake, Kevin Doyle, Stephen Ward and Steven Fletcher and making just three substitute appearances in the Premier League since joining in August, the Londoner wants to stay.

Bent said: “I couldn’t tell you what’s going to happen apart from that my loan finishes after tomorrow’s game.

“But I want to stay. I’d want to play more, but I’ve grown to know the lads and I feel part of the squad. I’ve been here for a few months now and I want Wolves to stay up.

“I want the boys, the gaffer and assistant boss Terry Connor to do well, because I’ve grown to love everyone and I want to be a part of that.”

Bent has seen just 11 minutes of action in the Premier League this season after coming on against Tottenham, Wigan on Boxing Day and West Ham on Saturday.
