The begining of the season that is.....

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/s/sheff_utd/6283426.stm

Sheffield United manager Bryan Robson has confirmed that striker Rob Hulse will not be fit enough to start playing at the beginning of the season.
Hulse, 27, suffered a double leg fracture after colliding with Chelsea keeper Petr Cech in March and as a consequence underwent surgery.

Robson told BBC Radio Sheffield: "Rob will miss the start of the season.

"Rob has got to be able to take his time and he can only come back when the medical people say he's ready to play."

Shame really.

I agree that its a shame but we have more then enough cover to allow him to fully recover, the last thing we want is for him to come back too soon and take another knock to rule him out for an even larger portion of the season.

Personally i would go with Stead and Sharp from the first game.

It'll be interesting to see how he does manage the strikers.

Sharp is more of a goal poacher, and so will need someone setting him up. Stead we know is a creater of good goals, but mostly for himself.

Maybe we'll see Danny Webber playing just behind them, to inject a bit of pace in an all-out attack...

Or maybe we have a cracking midfielder on the way.

We need an injection of creativity to ensure that the two strikers, whomever they may be, get the chances to score the goals.

Webber runs down too many blind alleys to play in the hole and so is best deployed as an out and out striker in my opinion. His pace probably suggests he would suit the little man role in a big man/little man partnership.

Stead has a great football brain and his movement is excellent so if we get someone who can spot a pass early i can see him getting a decent tally of goals this season.

Sharp is the new messiah so i expect the ball will simply fly into the back of the opposition net of its own accord whenever billy is in the vacinity.

i think shelton/nade and sharp would be a good partner ship shelton and nade to smash any goals in from out side the box billy to run on to any rebounds and put them past the keeper. Also you have the right mix of pace and strength.

That's dissapointing Hulse won't start the season, but fortunately we've got plenty of good strikers who will produce the goods in the meantime. But I hope Hulse does figure in the equation at some point though once he's back to full fitness and ready to play.

:D This was another thing I couldn't understand about the transfer rumours surrounding Hulsey - what team in their right mind would buy a player who is still currently injured?

With the best will in the world I'm sure he'll regain full fitness but I only want him to be available for fitness test/selection again just as the transfer window closes...

So Boro, Wigan, whoever can all knob off!!!!:D

UTB-FTO

And surely it's not just a case of whether they'd want to, he surely wouldn't pass a medical so as to get insurance?

Yeah i was thinking that why would people want Hulse at the moment anyway.

Ashame he wont be back for the start of the season though.

You can still get insurance if injured.

The problems with medicals and not getting insurance arise when there is a re-occuring problem.

shame he wont start but rather him be fully fit than rushed back. bring him back for seccond half of season and romp up to victory. first game back agenst the pigs and a hattrick :p

its a beautiful disadvantage we have, we have to many strikers but they are all very good in this league, hulse and sharp will be great however most teams would love to have Shelton and Stead or Nade and Webber so we are very lucky in a way :D

i really hope webber can re-find the form he once had.

We all know he has the ability, just a matter of him finding it again.

I think it might be possible in the Championship again, but first he has to get into the first team, it's really going to be a tough fight for a place once again.
