Think of these names as places rather than football clubs.

Bolton, Ipswich, Scunthorpe, Cardiff, Sunderland, Reading, Stoke, Swansea, Blackburn, Coventry, Leicester, Blackpool, Bristol, Portsmouth, Wolverhampton, Derby, Barnsley, Wigan, West Bromwich, Burnley, Watford, Wigan, Norwich, Hull, Doncaster, Nottingham, Middlesborough.

These towns or cities all have teams placed higher than us. The 4th biggest city in the country. The list could be much longer for Wendy's.

One word.

Disgrace.

My favourite topic of conversation at the moment. Decades of mismanagement, fuck-ups and in United's case, being screwed over when at the top table (don't know if that lot over at S6 have any excuses)

Doncaster.

Should kick things off a bit more now I feel.

Yeah but city size means nothing really.

You would assume bigger city = must have a club in the top flight.

Seriously Raul, it is not nice seeing Sitwell trying to argue that Donny should be getting huge crowds and be permanent fixtures in top 6 of the Championship. Respected posters like him should not be seen in this light and I won't have it, for his sake you see, not mine or everyone's.

Now then Kingston. Can you do us a list of clubs that have won major honours since we last did? That's always a favourite.

Your time starts... now.

:)

London, Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool, Newcastle seem to be doing ok, with Leeds likely to be back fairly soon.
That's all the big metropolitan areas of the country bar one. Who'd have thunk it.

The list of names proves nothing. I started watching the Blades in 1948 and this was the old 1st Division, in the order that they finished in 1948/49:

Portsmouth
Manchester United
Derby County
Newcastle United
Arsenal
Wolverhampton Wanderers
Manchester City
Sunderland
Charlton Athletic
Aston Villa
Stoke City
Liverpool
Chelsea
Bolton Wanderers
Burnley
Blackpool
Birmingham City
Everton
Middlesbrough
Huddersfield Town
Preston North End
Sheffield United

Most of those have had a few relegations and promotions since that time - including, of course, the Blades.

Only because roads haven't caught on in Burnley yet.

Lenners you forgot Brizzul and you're assuming Leeds will go up.

Places like Ipswich, Norwich, Nottingham, leicester and Derby are county teams with a hinterland population of near on a million so in that sense are potentially bigger clubs than United. Don't really include clubs like Chesterfield and Notts County

Bristol isn't doing too well in terms of premier league footy and is a big city
