Long to move out on loan within the next week

Well Clough has mad no secret that Long will be going on loan this season to get him more experience.

If long goes out on loan we will need another keeper as backup/to train with Howard. Surely we won't throw George willis in at this stage in the career?

Maybe get an old hat in like we did when Howard got injured, I forget his name now..

Clough has already said George Willis is capable cover. The problem is sitting on the bench for GL is useless because a sub goalie hardly ever gets on.

George Willis is very capable. Different physique to GL but more vocal. He'll get his chance in JPT games. He won't let us down. Replacement keeper will only come up if him or Howard get injured. If Howard gets injured he'll probably recall George Long.

Completely agree, I think it'll do Long a whole load of good getting away from his comfort zone and out to another club. It could be the push which helps him step up.

I'm afraid someone has it the wrong way round. A ransom is a demand for money to return something that already belongs to you. Hull have no proprietary rights whatsoever in Harry Maguire. They are not being and cannot be 'held to ransom'. The terminology is ludicrous. Imagine you like your neighbour's car. It's not for sale. You offer him £5k. Sorry he says, I don't want to sell but if you offer me £7k I would do so. "No", you say, "I won't be held to ransom!" What fucking nonsense!

Harry is our player. You want him? Pay the asking price. It's too much for you? OK, you'll have to shop elsewhere, mate. Oh, and you're ugly...

Howard commands his area a lot better than Long and his all round play is better. He may well go on to be better than Howard but we need the best we can in goal at all times. For now thats Howard

But not this season. Since Nigel's appointment it's been clear that this season is where we make a concerted effort to gain promotion. Howard is in goal on merit, which is how it should be. Clough knows far more about player development than me, thee, or most of us lined up like buttered soldiers, so I trust our manager's judgement to make the right calls to achieve our aim this season.

I watched them both at youth level Willis is far superior and he,ll make a good keeper.
Long makes the occasional great stop but his all round game is poor

I just dont get it. If Willis is far superior what are the coaching staff playing at. Long had about 40 first team games under his belt when he was the age Willis is now. Surely they can see Willis is the better keeper. Why is Willis not the first choice over Howard? Or is Willis far superior to Long but not as superior as Howard? It doesnt seem to make much sense do it. As for Long with his all round poor game, why have the last three managers selected him? What are they playing at? Surely it would make more sense to send Willis on loan and leave Long on the bench.

Willis still gets game time in the U21's though where as Long wouldn't get any game time on the bench

Totally agree ,plus how many times has Long been in the England U21 squad already,he must be a shocking keeper to be picked for his country.
