On Saturday we had one linesman who gave everything and another who gave nothing. Trouble was, they switched ends at half time rather than staying put! I've noticed that some switch end and others don't - does anyone know who decides and why, because it's got to be fairer that they do a half for each team?

Didn't notice that they switched, I was under the impression that they didn't do this and that the 'senior' lino had to be on the dug out side and that the subs are then only permitted to warm up behind him.

Sure Mobile will be able to shed more light on this

Didn't notice they had switched tbh. At end of day its referees decision but usually whan oaklandrdblade says is correct.

BTW, not seen it mentioned but having watched back a couple of time I think he got the Ward offside very much wrong. Hard to see when ball is played but I think he was well on when played.

They didn't switch round, I sit level with the linesman on the Kop and they definitely didn't switch.

They just didn't want to give us anything. Like that one against Leicester...

Interestingly, we committed 22 fouls, to West Brom's 10. That also suggests referees don't want to give us anything either!

Conspiracy :p

The FIFA should rule that linesmen should stay on the same half after half time. It is unfair on having the same rubbish linesman deciding that our players are offside or not on both halves

Conspiracy theory on this.

I noticed the WBA fullback talking to the linesman before kickoff (he went over). Couldn't hear but I am convinced he said somethng like "We play the offside trap keep your eyes open". The linesman then gave at least 6 first half decisions in their favour.

I believe it's the referee's decision whether to swap the linesman around at half time. I remember reading an article by a referee saying he always did, because it meant each linesman was in front of another set of fans, so if he was getting stick from one set, he got away from them in the second half.

Personally I also think it should be mandated that they stay where they are, as some are much more likely than others to raise the flag on marginal decisions.

At the time of the disallowed goal, I thought Ward was well off-side, but looking at the replay he timed his run perfectly. He was level with the defender in shot, and there was also a defender out of shot with whom he must also have been pretty much level.

I have a memory that Ward had a couple wrongly disallowed for off-side last season too. He makes short, fast runs which have to be timed perfectly, and it seems to leave him prone to this sort of misfortune.

Nope they didnt switch it seemed to me it was the same twit in the same place each half.
