Just what the doctor ordered , unlike at Chelsea ! Big unit , threw his body into blocking several shots, composed on and off the ball , overall a commanding display that made the rest of the defence and keeper look a lot more solid and confident, onwards and upwards. UTB

To be fair he's not played Long since, put McEveley back in his proper position and brought in a much needed specialist center half.

Two centre halves. It was just great to see the ball being so effectively repelled with blocks, headers, just good solid defence.

edgar was good living upto what Birmingham fans were saying because they were bemused at why he was leaving as they felt he could still do a job in there team & he shored up the shaky Cb partnership by simply being in the team as it moved mceveley out of the firing line

Was impressed with the new lad, good defensive display. The way he put his body on the line to block some of those shots reminded me of Tel Kennedy's display against Preston in the league last season.

After the dross Clough kept putting at centre half last season, it was good to see United have two proper centre halves today, at last!

Impressive today from Edgar - let's see how we go on now moving #forwardtogether :)

I thought he looked very promising today. commanding and it was nice to have some pace in the centre back position for the first time in years.

I'd Still like another quality addition there but that certainly looks a better back 4 than last week.

Adkins saw the problem first hand a week ago

and addressed it

COOL

He saw it a month too late.
He could have looked at all the videos from last season
he could have asked Chris Morgan
he could have had a coffee with 95% of Blades who would have all said the same - issue at centre half, going on for 12 months.

If he had done all of these things we may have resolved the problem sooner, got CH's bedded in and not had to suffer the result last week.

At long last, We have 2 proper CH's and Collins might actually benefit from Edgar - who just seems to attack every ball (very Morgan-esq)
Mceveley is now out of the way of CH, hopefully never to return - except in an emergency, and that includes Basham as well.

We now have a balanced defence and although Collins is right footed, is playing where he has played most of his CH games, left side.

Freeman even seems better for the experienced Edgar at the side of him.

This defence whilst not perfect is as good as it can be considering resources and personal and should play (if fit) in the next 5-10 games and get to know one another.

What Adkins now needs to do is sort central midfield out and right side midfield - we have at present a mini crisis forming - Chezzer ran us ragged in centre mid, Gillingham did the same and Morecambe did it for 45 minutes.

We move on, but we are better, much better.
