According to a mate who's a Palace fan, Apparently, were in for him on loan. He says its a fast pacey striker who knows how to find the net, his key ability is his movement. He made 6 appearances last season for Palace in the cups after signing for them in January.

He did say its fairly certain to happen as far as their end knows, but who knows. Just passing it on :)

Would have been an awesome signing for Hoofy Blackwell.

Can just hear him now - "get it Appiah"

(another one you have to tink about - maybe a bit more than "Otto" Matic - especially since Broomers spoiled the party on that one - Matich my arse!)

Don't know if many will even know much about this lad but I've seen him on The Football League Show and he has impressed me from what I have seen. He's 24 years old and is at Cambridge United on loan from Crystal Palace.

Palace signed him from non league Margate a few years ago after he ripped the league apart and netted 30+ goals, since then he hasn't really featured for them but looking at wiki he has been out good few times on loan. With Success at League Two level but hasn't really hit the ground running with league one clubs.

He's bagged 5 in 11 appearances this season and having seen the goals they had a good bit of class about them and he is fast as fook!

This lad has plenty of class about him and I don't know why but I feel that should a team invest time and effort into him long term I reckon he would return the favour with some goals. Whether he is the answer for us though is a different story.

Neil seems open to helping the club at the moment, so why not. Cloughie could include it in his conversation about McCarthy.

Sounds like the sort of player that could improve our striking problems.

Bet we never see him in a red and white shirt though !

I think one thing that really impresses me about this lad as well is how physical and honest he is. The balance is just right as he is pacey as hell and has all of the agility, fast feet and tricks to go with it but he isn't flimsy and he doesn't go down at the first sign of contact. He will take people on and is strong enough to ride challenges and carry on going at people. Good all round player who I think would thrive in a team with some of the players that we have already.

Maybe League 2 is his level?

He does look really good in League 2 though but there must be a reason he can't do it at League 1.

Does he come with his own cushion?

Good shout, though, HP
Exactly the sort that can change an outcome.

Anyone who'd be a regular and bang a good few in.
We'd even be able to sing songs about crazy with a lisp.

I liked the one where he kicked the ball into that rectangular bar-net combo thingy.

Don't know this guy but, seriously, I've long thought that just watching TFLS is a prime place to spot talent. No need for 'scouts' stood on the touchline on a cold night. Identify targets in Leagues 1 & 2 and Conference (and that's our marketplace ATM) and then check them out. I remember seeing Assombalonga just two years ago when he was at Southend. 15 goals in 43 apps. is enough to know he's got something. Now he's recently cost Forest £8m and the rest is history.

graf, I know he's cost a lot, relatively speaking, but Forest have lost, if I'm correct, three of their last four games. It could be that Assombalonga is injured, so that would exclude this comment, but Pearce seems to be up against the wall. Things can change of course, but I wonder if it's as simple to suggest that Assombalonga alone is the answer? No doubting Forest's quality (except when they played us) but it'll be interesting to see if the player in question can raise his game enough to put his team in contention for promotion.

He's got 9 in 15 games mate,so i think it's fair to say he's holding his side of the bargain up.

That's true wiz and, further to itsinyerblood's comment, Assombalonga is not the lone answer. He's got guys like Antonio, Fryatt, Lansbury etc. alongside him. That's what happens when you plan in advance and aren't in a 'shit-or-bust' situation like we've got ourselves in.

And here's another we could have got, Halford...

Just want to drag this back up because I am still watching this lad and he is still looking really impressive. His goal count at the minute hasn't popped up much he is on 6 in 16 games but he is in an otherwise average Cambridge team and looks a cut above all of them. Avram Grant likes the lad and has called him up to the Ghana african nations squad along side Leicester's Jeffery Schlupp.

Decided to have a look at some of the names we were rumoured with a few years ago.

Reckon we’ve moved on a bit from thinking this lad might have been a good signing. My god we were shit.

He is now a free agent. Maybe he could do a job? 11 goals in 59 matches for Wimbledon. ;)
