Sad News From My Point Of View But Apparently Having Turned Down A New Contract He Looks Certain To Leave BDTBL For Around 2mil,

"MATTHEW Kilgallon snubs new Blades deal
HOTLINE
Matthew Kilgallon has snubbed a new contract at SHEFFIELD UNITED to alert Wigan and Middlesbrough.

Centre-half Kilgallon, 25, has turned down an extension with the Blades and looks certain to be sold, with the Yorkshire side looking for about £2million.

Wigan boss Roberto Martinez is interested in Kilgallon as a potential replacement for unsettled Paul Scharner, while Boro manager Gareth Southgate knows he could be losing one or two central defenders after relegation."

Eek... not a great deal we can do if that's the case unless an increase in wages would change matters.

The club shouldn't be held to ransom though.

True.

Although not surprising that he might be off.

Did we not always think that this was going to happen? Hence Bromby coming back on a permanent basis.

2 Million? thats evn less than we bought him for!!!

£2M is peanuts and a f+#*ing joke. They're taking the piss.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Bromby is not strong enough to play centre back. He gets muscled out too easy.

Bromby's far better at centre back than he is at right back. He's shocking out wide.

I don't think we should be held to ransom either, though. If he wants to leave, let him - I'd rather have someone who's not as good but more committed in the first team. How about moving Walker in beside Morgan when Naysmith is back to fitness?

Of course, that's all presuming that any of this is true!

Not sure Walker is strong enough yet.

But I'm with you in saying we should wait and see about Killa. We've had so many players over the years who've done things like this to get a better deal.

But if he wants to go - then there's no place for him in a red and white shirt (remember Paul Devlin anyone?) though we should aim for a chunk more than £2mil.

apparently blades have now slapped a 2.5 mil price tag on his head with boro and Wigan being favourites to snap him up, if im not mistaken didn't we pay 2.2 mil for him? and if that is the case we are getting 300k profit on him (if a deal does go through for 2.5) and he's been one of the best centre backs in championship since he signed, not happy :(. Hartley a proposed replacement for killa (see paul Hartley thread on rumour mill for links etc.)

If they guy doesn't want to sign a new deal, then we have no choice other than to tout him around for the best possible fee. I think 2.5-3Mill is probably about right, but only to a Prem club, would not like to see him move to a rival such as Boro, it will not help us to compete next year by strengthening our rivals.

NO NO NO NO NO NO this can't be happening (buries head in sand) :(
Also someone mentioned Devlin earlier. Me and the missus were there the night we got beat by Watford about 5 seats along from the dugouts front row. The crowd were shouting for him to be subbed cos he's was having a mare and wasn't arsed, and then gave the ball away leading to the 2nd goal.
He'd previously been all over the press stating he wanted out etc.
He was subbed and that got a big cheer. Anyway he got some stick off some lads about 4 rows back from us and he set off to try and get past the steward into the stand !!! The coaching staff dragged him off down the tunnel and we could hear some very choice language and stuff getting chucked around for about 10 minutes. Looking back on it it was piss funny.

Says on our site "The Blades are bracing themselves for an offer of up to £4 million from one of the trio and chairman Kevin McCabe is willing to make him one of the highest-paid players at Bramall Lane."

I'd rather we keep him, even if we do put his wages up, in a few years he will be a class player, somebody that wil help us get inot the premiership, where we will get money to balance out his wages

Haven't we saved a chunk of wages money by letting Ugo leave - and if the rumours about Hendrie going to Leeds come to anything, surely we'd save more than enough money to cover any rise for Killa?

We may have saved a chunk in wages from Ugo and from Hendrie, if he leaves, but maybe its not money thats the possible problem?

There's the question of whether we should just pay Killa whatever he wants, anyway. If we've got a wage structure in place, and that structure doesn't suit any of our players, then they should seek employment elsewhere. What would it say to the other players if we gave in and paid one player far more than any other?

It would signal chaos. Even man u & arsenal have wage structures.
