Often said, 'the result is all that matters'. Good win. Good to be top. Good defensive. Crap offensive. Says it all when your full-back scores both goals. Really poor first half performance by both sides was lit up by McMahon's free-kick. Don't think either goalkeeper had a shot to save. Second half, Crawley dominated, they played high tempo football, playing two wingers they stretched us all over the pitch. We couldn't get the ball, when we did, immediately lost it, putting more pressure on the back four who defended wave after wave of attack. Thought Maguire and Collins were very good today. On a rare flutter forward, awarded free-kick, McMahon scored a great (30 yds?) goal. Still had to do some defending as they throw more and more players forward, but despite all Crawley's pressure, Long was rarely troubled.

We are good defensive team in this league, but bloody awful offensive team.

We need two additions in January. A proper winger and a central midfielder to replace (or at least compete with) Michael Doyle. Such recruitment would improve us beyond recognition as an attacking force. The departures of Tonne, Philliskirk, McAllister and Chappell would help to free up some funds.
