Thought he won that match for Bristol today. After watching us dominate the first 10 minutes he changed Bristol to match us in formation packed the midfield and after that we never settled. Wilder was forced to abandon our usual 3-5-2 (something we haven’t done for a while) and I thought after that they were deserving of the 3 points. Three mistakes at the back were punished clinically by Weimann with too many players having off days today for us. But credit Bristol they exploited our weaknesses nicely. I trust we will be back to winning ways next week. UTB

On a side note I can see why Adam Webster gets singled out for praise on twitter and in podcasts. looks like he would suit our system nicely...

Agree, we were impressive for the first 10 minutes, all over Bristol City.
Then when we scored we gradually sat back.

In fact that was the pattern of the game.
When it was level we were the better team with Bristol City defending and just using the counter
But when we were leading (which was most the game) BC were the better team with us sitting just relying on the counter.

Agreed, it was bizarre to watch. It was almost we will attack for 15 minutes then you attack for 15 minutes rinse and repeat

Got what we deserved today. Why Wilder decided to sit back after we scored I will never know

Thought after the first ten minutes they dominated us pretty much. Poor tactics by us

Why wilder stuck with 4 at the back when O’Connell came off injured is baffling. Stevens and Egan as 2 is stupid.

I don’t rate Johnson but he is a winger not a full back... I don’t know why we signed him.

Not the first time we have lost the midfield battle in the second half of the season even though we have won most of those games, they were for a lot of the game quicker than us,we were a tad slow in our build up and our passing from most of the players was poor and we weren't as good from out wide, I think wilder was going to bring Baldock off until his cross for Hogans goal, poor day,it happens move on to Preston next week .

Got the subs wrong for me today. Should’ve been Cranie on for JOC and seen the game out, we were 2-1 up but Wilder seemingly had to satisfy his left and a right footer balance I think. At least you know you can rely on Cranie to get the job in hand done.

Cranie has shown how solid and reliable he is lately. Surprised he didn't bring him on.

For a full 1 minute, it didn’t look like we did. Immediately after the substitution we seemed to organise the defence by reverting back to 3 with Bash switched back to defence. The equaliser seemed to change that, with us switching again to 4 at the back.

First place has now gone with Norwich winning, we're only chasing second now

He'll be regretting that.

Maybe what happened in the first half swayed the decision. We got the early goal, then seemed unsure of what to do and gradually just let them take command of the game and looked out of sorts ourselves. They were particularly stronger in midfield.

As LoughboroBlade said, we did return to our normal formation after 2-1, hoping that we'd be able to return to our usually solid set up, which we also did show during O'Connell's absence a little while ago. But in hindsight - that was the time to accept that it wasn't going to be a great performance from us on the day, and hold on to what we had by just remaining solid.

Agreed. People forget they came back when we had 5 and O'Connell. It was not like we took control after going 1-0 up. I am not sure we had any control of the game with or without Jack; 4-4-2 or 3-5-2. Sometimes it is too easy to blame a change. The pattern for the game was already set and even leading I never felt in any kind of control as their midfield was just running off us all game. We did not get close enough well before they got to the final third and eventually scored the goals.

I thought Cranie or Stearman would come on for JC bit shocked when Johnson came on to be honest

The fact Cranie didn't start is beyond me. He's been incredibly solid and reliable. Sure, Bash is Mr energy but we're vastly more solid with Cranie on.
