Can anyone shed any light on role this useless cunt plays at the Lane.

I can remember McCabe speaking about him in glowing terms at the fans forum at Handsworth back in April saying he had helped us bring in quality players such as McMahon and oddly Westlake who he said would be a top professional.

He has also been in situ at Lane since November 2011 and obviously will have presided over a lot of the signings made in this time.

Think Julian Winter was instrumental in bringing him in as he worked with him at Watford. He's been here a few years I think and I definitely know he was here was Wilson was because I remember reading about him somewhere at the time.

Clough apparently likes his scouting recruitment to go through his brother / brother in law so I read and on Bladesplayer they did an interview with one of Clough's right hand men Gary Crosby who said that Cloughy likes to send him out on scouting missions so hopefully we will have a new scouting direction.

I'd go a little deeper into his remit, but is there any point, given that you've decided to abuse him whilst supposedly asking a question to find out what he does?

Is he a left back by trade that can play in midfield, if so we have a spot for him.

To be fair to Stephenson he was part of the team who brought in players like McGinn, Cuvellier, McGinn and Brandy (do you honestly think Weir knew anything about these players) yet we just can't find a manager to ensure they apply and work hard enough to get in the team and put their talents to some use. I don't thik there is a need to pop at him, however I don't know what his day to day job is.

Brownie may be a bit OTT with it, but given that there's almost unanimous opinion that we could bin the entire squad without a whimper, we should actually be asking questions about the man in charge of recruitment for the last 2 or 3 years, IMHO.

Why wasn't he sacked then, if it's his choice players that didn't perform under DW and DW paid the price by losing his job, surely the same process should apply

I don't think he was in charge of recruitment for the last few years when Wilson was in charge. None of the team who played on Saturday were Weir/Stephenson signings apart from Lappin who was here for a week under Weir. I imagine 9 out of the 11 were in the team that beat hartlepool 3-0 in december.

What's changed, well apart from the managers. I think we need to dig deeper

I suppose the jury is out on if the players are, en masse, as poor as they look - or if its entirely poor management that's brought us to this point.

Brandy MOM on his debut against County
McGinn - According to most should start
Baxter - MOM for his 1st 2 or 3 games

Something happens to them and not sure you can blame that on Stephenson

McGinn has come in and done well granted, Baxter hasn't been prolific although granted he did have a period of looking useful and I still have hopes for him. Brandy is lightweight and goes to ground looking for everything which pees me off about him because when he does this he could probably have beat his man but would rather hit the deck....... All these have the potential however I don't agree with people blaming Clough for them either! McGinn not being in at the minute is a myth for me but i'm not at the stage of blaming the gaffer.

Did you learn how to be offensive or does it come naturally to you?

You might enlighten those of us who don't know you personally what you have achieved over the past two years. Have you given value for money in your job (if you have one)? Since you are quick to criticise others I think we are entitled to know.

I think Brownie has spent most of this year working on a healing book in memory of Margaret Thatcher.

I would have to ask, is Stephenson more qualified to assess a player's capabilities than. say Weir, Wilson, Morgan and Clough

Is Brownie involved in the recruitment of players? Fuck me, we're in deeper trouble than even I thought.

Obviously if he isn't then whatever he has done over the last 2 years is completely irrelevant.

I think you are missing the point. Anyone is entitled to ask what John Stephenson has done for the club over the past two years. However, it is not appropriate to do it in such an offensive way.

Would anyone on here be happy if a similar post was publicly aimed at them and their current employment - whatever that may be - and couched in similar offensive terms?

The bigger question is what are the team actually doing? because it looks like nowt at the minute.

I think you are missing the point.

I don't think I did.

Brownie might have overdone the expletives, but he is questioning a senior appointment at Sheffield United football club, who take vast sums of money off many people and are the focal point of many peoples very existence. Has anyone else got a job, who post on here, who has such an effect on anyone elses like? I suspect not.

If I were the director of the RSC and had replaced Brannagh, Mirren, Dench and Stewart with the cast of CBeebies I would, indeed, expect a twatting from all and sundry.

Well, I've no hostility to him (at the moment) and would appreciate a little more detail. I'll then have a better idea whether to be hostile and can start thinking of a 'witty' nickname for him. :)

There is the danger that we still consider ourselves as a big club and continue to have an overloaded support staff.
Most clubs in the lower regions of the football league reduce their operating costs and perhaps it is time we did the same, until there is a definite defined improvement ,which so far is a long way off.
