I know its only Mid-October and the January Transfer window is miles away. If you was appointed the new manager of SUFC and was told you had a budget of ~£1.5million who would you go out and attempt to bring to SUFC in the January Transfer Window? (Obviously the figure is completely made up and will probably be an over estimate of what the new manager gets to spend. Plus any fees received are injected straight into the squad ).

Luke Freeman from Stevenage. Callum Wilson from Coventry and two attacking full backs that bomb down the line and get crosses in.

A quick (& decent) central defender is the no. 1 priority.

Wilson & Clarke would be good too.

Callum Wilson
Chris Hussey (Burton Albion, LB)
A centre back with at least a slight burst of pace

Nicky Adams who plays right wing for Crawley, Clarke, Wilson and two full backs. Better make that budget £5 million!

Some new centre backs would be worth getting as well if not before then.

For me and bash me all you want but I would happily offload Maguire if the silly money offers are still rumoured to be on the table. Other than popping up with the odd goal this year and last I don't overly rate him as a defender. For me he's too slow, he gets turned easily as anything and once a player is past him he's scored.

This would free up some decent money on the financial fair play front I would imagine as well so yes Maguire gone an experienced, quicker CB to partner collins at the back and another striker.

I kind of agree with you and I think we could probably replace Maguire with someone better. Also if the stupid money had really been offered for him in the past he would have gone by now. I mean we sold Macca fast enough when an offer came in even if we did claim we "tried" to keep him.

Have it on good authority that we were prepared to improve McD's contract to match what Wolves were offering - he chose to go as he felt it was the best / most sensible career move (two failed promotion bids playing a large part in that decision I'm sure...). To be fair to him looking like he made the right choice at the mo - although we might not be quite as deep in the shit if he'd stayed.

Agree that if the money had been on the table Maguire would've gone by now though.

Sorry but we are where we are because since the Premier League era time after time we have sold our good players and replaced them with shit. Mcabe in my opinion is to blame for this as he is in charge (regardless of the lackeys he's put in charge)

I feel Mcabe gets off lightly compared to how other fans may react to a chairman losing them 15000 fans and taking us to the bottom of the 3rd tier. So for me we need to keep any good players and spend money on good ones and build a team.

'agree re Maguire comments - he's got moobs and if he's this slow at his age he doesn't have much of a future in pro football.

we need at least 10 new players to replace the crap in the current 1st team.

The first thing to do is extend the loan of Coady and let Lappin go home. I think I want to see at least one more game from Hall before deciding on him as he made a difference last week.

Players I think we need to target are :-

LW Freeman from Stevenage
CB Jamaal Lascelles - Nottingham Forest (Loan)
LB Chris Hussey - Burton
CM Taylor - Tranmere

We could also do with an experienced head in the middle of the park

Personally I would be building my team around Maguire as he will get better. Collins won't so he's on my shit list to get rid of

Westlake, Collins, Hill, Williams, Doyle, Flynn, Porter - lAll have something in common which is that they have been part of the clubs failures. We need to clean the slates before we can improve.

sheffielder are you sure about Maguire getting better? he has got worse not better

To be fair, I think you could say that about everyone this season. I can't think of one player who has been the shining light through all this crap we have had to suffer. Maguire would be a lot better with a pacey CB covering behind him in my opinion. Because of the way we have set up this season it has put a lot more pressure on out defence.

No bashing from me. You've got Maguire absolutely right. Of course we should keep outstanding young players but he's not in that category. His lack of pace and mobility has been exposed on far too many occasions.

In Wilsons first season Maguire was one of the shining lights but last season by comparison he was poor at best IMO. This season he has been dreadful but the same could be said for the entire back four. It needs a leader in there with pace.

Is Jags available?;)
