How do you think the lads settling in? Apparently Shrewsbury was his best game for us to date.

He sounded dangerous on Saturday but will he become the £3 million pound player I signed on FIFA? :)

I think he'll do very well for us. He looks dangerous and light footed and can take full backs on on the outside as well as cut inside.

When he does go on the outside of defenders from left wing his left foot isn't his best one, which means he'll be likely to whip them in at the near post, rather than picking out a curling, precise one at the back post, so the strikers need to be expecting that.

When he cuts inside, he seems to like running across the pitch and on a couple of occasions vs Shrewsbury he brought the right back with him. This left a gap on their right hand side which we could have exploited even more, but it possibly requires another left back than Higginbotham.

With him and Forte we have a real threat to get in behind teams, which means they can't just push up like teams did when we played Kitson and Porter up front. I can see us stretch teams a lot more and this will give Doyle and McDonald more time and space on the ball to playmake.

I think he'll still be in improvement mode at present.

When Howard Kendall brought Andy Walker in from Celtic it took him about two months to get back up to speed with "proper" football again. I fully expect Murphy to be a good assett once he's adjusted to the jump in standard.

I'm optimistic about this lad. He has pace, high work rate on closing defenders down and covering our full backs when the opposition attacks. I think that it might be worth a try (if even for a short while during matches) swapping him and Forte. I have a feeling that he could be our new Millar (for the time being).

There's the not insignificant factor of him still being a young lad, the first time he's ever moved clubs and been away from family and mates, still living out of a hotel room what no doubt seems a million miles (geographically and culturally) from home. I don't think we've seen the best of him yet.

I saw him at Oxford and thought he looked decent. Since that game I've been totally unimpressed so glad to hear he played well Saturday. Thought he has looked to light weight and not even that fast, hopefully he can crack on now.

Yeah Andy Walker. Still remember his goal at Ipswich. What a night that was. The ref played about 11 mins of Fergie time.

Not that I have seen much of him, but does anyone think the pitches are not helping him or us at the moment? I know we're not exactly Barcelona, but we do try and play a bit more than some of the other teams in this league who are a bit up and at 'em!?!

He was quiet first half but he didn't get much opportunity as we seemed to go down the right side more. There was one particularly good piece of defensive cover work from him but he got a little complacent once he won the ball and lost it again.

Second half he looked a real threat-I was surprised to see him make way. Promising signs from him and I think he'll turn out to be a fantastic piece of business.

So the question is, who will he be playing for when he rockets through the £250K barrier.

:)

UTB

Like the last decent player we had called Jamie he'll go a few games without scoring, be slagged off by the "supporters" and sold cheap to Derby.

:)

I'm sure it's quite obvious who I had in mind.

Tommy Mooney was very poor ;)

Why did you have to mention him? I was just starting to get over them letting him take that late free kick at Anfield when Oh Lord was on the pitch.

Did you hear that caller on Radio Sheffield who said Shaun Murphy is the best player to play for any South Yorkshire club?
The Shaun Murphy who was in Heaths team was shite, under Warnock he was a classy defender.

I didn't but I wish I had! The worst one I've ever heard was last season the missus won tickets for Newcastle v Blackburn, corporate hospitality. They had an ex-pro taking questions beforehand and a Toon fan piped up with: "Do you think there's a better centre half in this country than Fabio Coloccini?" His tone indicated there was not. It took all I had not to name 10 off the top of my head.

If he's better than Vidic, I'm the Dalai Lama.

Vidic
Vermaelen
Cahill
Jagielka
Lescott
Kompany
Terry
Even Side Show Bob at Chelsea

You'll get no argument from me, in our household he's still referred to as Murphenbauer. But best player in South Yorkshire ever? That's a bit of a stretch.

The bits I've seen and from what I've heard we may have signed some class. Miller and Murphy, oh dreaming partnerships of years gone by.
Beggy first quote of M&Ms.
