Kevin Blackwell is set to swoop for young Coventry centre-half James McPake as a replacement for the outgoing Matt Kilgallon. Killer is out of contract in June and the Blades are desperate to offload him during the January transfer window in order to recoup a fee for the defender before he can leave on a free transfer.

Newcastle and Sunderland are vying for his signature as interest from Celtic has cooled. McPake has impressed in his appearances for the Sky Blues this season and is thought to be available for around £500k.
