Please explain to me why he assisted our equalizing goal ?

Quite obviously he had no interest in setting up the equaliser, it was a deliberate move to put a ball in to injure Jon Stead (who he secretly hated let’s say) and also to injure Ryan Taylor. He knew Unsworth would be introduced, at which point the masterplan of him securing our relegation after a season of trying to not secure our relegation could be completed. It’s all so clear...

He is one devious sunofabitch

Some of our most skillful/successful players/managers in the modern era: Jags, Sharp, Warnock, Morgan et al. All had their faults, but don't understand the attitude of some on here who seem determined to somehow see past years of hardwork, professionalism and no little talent or achievement and instead focus on the negatives. If you're miserable even about the best aspects of our recent history, then i'm not sure you deserve the good times when they come.

No it’s not at all. He knew very well what he was doing. He deliberately handled the ball. That’s why the referee gave a penalty and nobody at all complained.

We’ve been through all this shite time and time again. He doesn’t give a fuck about us.

Stop trolling

Did any body else do the same as me?

I laughed at the first comment about him deliberately hand balling it against Wigan (naturally thinking it was a joke) and then slowly had my jaw drop as I read on that people actually believed it!

I’d suggest a girlfriend would be more fun than coming up with this absolute tripe.

It's a similar situation to the b*****d shown on this bit of footage (at 1.26), doing exactly the same thing. If those aren't the actions of someone deliberately scuppering last season for us, I'm a monkey's uncle. Thank heavens we got rid and he never played for us again...

The Everton player has nothing whatsoever to do with us. Do they not have a forum?
Shut up. What about “Saiz sent off” “Maguire 50 million to Citeh” “Jos Lufookeye” ? Who are you the fuckin forum police ?

It’s a fact that he deliberately handled the ball. You could hardly have a better example. He reached up with both hands and caught the fucking thing. That’s why the ref gave a penalty. Whether he had an improper motive for doing it is quite another matter. I have never suggested he had. I’d have liked him to stay around for a few minutes to explain why he did it, though.

Sadly he didn’t give a fuck. He was alright. He was off to Everton, so hadn’t time to explain why he gave away such a ridiculous penalty. Not only that, he’s never bothered since.

He’s no legend. He’s no Blade. Fuck the Everton player.

I assume Jay McEverley had answers demanded from him from the forum troll when he did not one, but two ridiculous deliberate handballs. One of which ultimately cost us a first Cup final in nearly 80 years at the time.

No he didn't you say

Phil jagielka is more a blade than you'll ever be

It’s a ‘fact’?

OK, so obviously it isn’t a fact, so we can ignore that comment. However, let’s say everything else you say is true, what possible incentive would he have to deliberately handle it in that situation? And why would he have been outstanding for us all season, only to go and throw it away in that one moment on the last game of the season?

I mean, your conspiracy is nonsense, but I’d love to to know what your thinking is behind his motive to do that in that one moment

I honestly don’t think there have been any more professional footballers in the premier league over the past 10 years than Jags, so this conspiracy seems even more unfounded when you take his character into context.

Bitterness in your part is my only suspicion as the route cause of this conspiracy.

(And yes, I’m expecting a long-winded response to this post that will evoke nowhere near as much emotion in me as you will have on typing it!)

Jags is the best player we've had this millenium. Along with Warnock who has been the best manager. Strange how they both manage to attract such revulsion. I can't imagine any other club where this would be applicable.

He ignores the FACT that Jags was so desperate to see us lose he assisted the goal...?

Rarely has a point been so widely missed.

He deliberately handled the ball. It wasn’t an accident. It wasn’t an act of God. It was an exercise of free choice as to whether he placed his hands on the ball. He elected to do so. There was no need for him to do so. Maybe he panicked in a high pressure game? We don’t know. Why don’t we know? Because the Everton player has never told us. Why not? Because he was going to Everton and didn’t give a fuck. No conspiracy. No nefarious intent. He simply didn’t give a fuck about us and hasn’t given one since. Some Blade. Some Legend. Fuck him.

If you'd have turned up to the 125 Year dinner you could have asked him in person yourself.

Also, we’ve never heard from the utterly disgraceful Danny Webber. Why did he, of his own free will, choose to clip the ball against the post rather than score the equaliser? Did he immediately rush over to the touch line and prize Gary Sinclair’s microphone out of his hands in order to explain to everyone why he chose to not score? Like hell did he, and he’s never spoken of it since. Utter utter disgrace.

Yes. I would ask him if ever I had the opportunity. He shouldn’t need to be asked of course. It was a very significant event for us, though not for the Everton player.

Interesting you should note the one and only time he’s been back to the Lane. On an invitation and free dinner. See you at a match some time, eh Evs?

We're you invited to the Sheffield United celebration dinner pinch ?

You wouldn't ask him anything Dorothy, you wouldn't utter a single word in his presence in fact.
That'd be far too bold a move for specimen like yourself.

Simultaneously hilarious and tiresome that this debate comes up every time Jagielka is mentioned.

My abiding memory of him is spanking it into the top corner from 30 yards out vs Leeds whilst 3 sides of BL went mental, or numerous other amazing moments.

The only reason to obsess over a mistake in one game.. is if one had an agenda against him. But of course, agendas are terrible things which sensible people refuse to propogate, eh?
