So why set the release fee so low? The point is they never negotiated a sell on clause, with everton or with jags when putting that in his contract. Whats the sell on clause in the sharp deal now then? What was the measly figure for walker (a current england squad player 2 seasons on) or was a loan period where he was recalled and never taking the option of loaning other spurs players good enough? Other examples could be signing howard and letting him go soon after for next to nothing. Sign cotterill and again same outcome. Beattie, Shelton, Killa and so on. The enormous list of wasted money on loans and on paying compo to managers. Shoddy dealings by mccabe dont know how dare moan about how much he's put in as he's throw it away mostly. Lets hope he's got it right this time as in a worst mess now than when he took over.

The fee was set for Jags and without it he wouldn't re-sign. Everton only had to pay the release fee, we couldn't set it any higher.

Nothing on Sharp now but 25% when he went to Scunny, Blackwell had decided he wasn't needed so he was moved on for the highest fee we could get.

Walker was £3 Million upfront which can raise and he has a sell on clause, as does KN.

Again Howard was moved on by the management who no longer wanted him.
Cotterhill being moved on again is a management not board decsion.

You talk about Beattie,Shelton and Killa like we got under the market value. Don't see how you come to that opinion, none of them have gone on to pull up any trees or command large transfer fees.

I think everyone understands that. But would Jags have really refused to sign had we insisted it be £4million plus a sell-on clause? This shouldn't have put potential buyers off, particularly as they would have been buying him at what was effectively a discounted fee. I'd like to think we'd have argued for this to be included, but I suspect it was an oversight at the time.

I think he would have refused to sign yes, and at the time £4 Million for a championship defender (at that time) was a fair price.
I'm sure we would have loved for it to be £4 Million plus 25% sell on, but we'll never know if that was considered.

It could very well be both Jags and Cahill on their way to Arsenal. Which I'd be quite chuffed about as the missus is a Gooner.

hmm bob you seem very pro mcabe/board . may i ask why? do you honestly feel we have commanded the best fee's/deals for those players? And the fact that decent players have been let go i.e howard, nathan dyre (warmed the bench on loan), sharp, ward, cotterill all with parting shots at the management doesnt this say the board have let us down in a major way.

I'm not pro board, I'm just anti bullshit comments which seem to become fact.

I also doubt your definition of decent player. None of those players were anything above average for us.
