Hoofwaffe, kick it high, kick it hard, kick it long, dinosaurs, Bassett, Warnock, Blackwell, and so on and so forth.
It's amazing how our most succesful managers of the last 20 years have been members of the "hoofwaffe". No other manager in that period has got us as high as third in the second tier or better. All those three dinosaurs did.
Just for fun, highest finishing position of managers since Bassett:
1. Bassett 9th First Tier 1992
2. Warnock 18th First Tier 2007
3. Blackwell 3rd second tier 2009
4. Kendall 5th second tier 1997
5. Thompson 6th second tier 1998
6. Bruce 8th second tier 1999
7. Adams 23rd second tier 2011
8. Wilson 3rd 3rd tier 2012
9. Morga 5th 3rd tier 2013
The rest (Spackman, Heath, Robson and Speed) didn't manage to finish a season.

Hope you're not supporting the argument that NW who took us to two semi finals, and the Premiership whilst raising the average gate to 30,000 + plus developed the likes of Jagielka who helped us become the top Yorkshire club should come back ?
It's old hat all that when you've got football purists like Weir and Danny W.

How about points and goals tally going back through the years? Wouldn't that shoot Wilson up the ranks a little. You can only gather points and goals in the league you play in.
I think anyone with a brain will tell you its not Hoof V Football. It appears we have to divide into 2 camps not unlike clapper v knocker etc. Some of the most entertaining football I have witnessed in recent times has been served up by good old direct channelled balls crossed in and big bloke on the end. I actually think to class the 2006 promotion team as hoof merchants does them an utter disservice. While I don't like Warnock the man his managerial excellence helped get us up. It was what he did after that that tarnished him in my eyes. But you and I have agreed on that in the past Dazzler.
Fact is we should be doing better, everyone sees that but this public barracking of a manager not even into double figures of games when we knew it was going to be a rough ride is humiliating.
How long does he get? November? December? We may all have opinions on that but to start talking about sacking him now is just numb nutted ignorance of the highest order and does no one, least of all the team, players and manager any good whatsoever.
