Yes, I need a rant.

Why sell both?? I really can't understand the logic behind this. Two quality players who are still young who could of easily done at least another season for us, especially Walker (what did he play? 4 games was it?)

If we are hard up for cash maybe it shouldnt be invested in a ground that we wont fill as we can't fill it now.

Seriously what is the point? Isn't it best to build a squad capable of holding a place in the Premiership and then investing in the ground?

We better start spending some cash on some decent players else next season I will give our fans till Christmas max until sack the board or blackwell out chants start.

Must admit the whole grounds extension thing's got me confused too. When did the original plans for it come about? Some time in 2007 wasn't it? I remember reading they hoped to start work on it in 2008. So it keeps getting delayed. Maybe they finally want to get this overdue project sorted and out of the way. It can't be an excuse for just ignoring the team though.

Two things on this:

1) Plans had to be redrawn to exclude the Student flats and re submitted to the planning board, I think thats the approval we got the other day.
2) They probably ticked along for a while, until the 2018 bid from Sheffield became a reality, but then rushed to get the plans in before the entourage from the 2018 committee visited Sheffield this week

I don't think the sales of the Kyles were connected to the ground plans, but it just p*sses me off that we can make committments to Ground improvements when we don't even sell out week in week out... When was the last time we reached current capacity?

But when Mr PL comes knocking we fling open the shutters and we're open for business.

I can sort of understand the sale of naughton although i would have liked to have kept him but to sell Walker is total madness!! hes gone for a reported £2m yes it could been be good money for someone that's only played 9 times but he would have been worth double next season and we would have kept one more decent player but the aagain we are Sheffield United a selling club!!

He only actually played two league games for us and 9 for Northampton. Tottenham Hotspur have payed £3-5m for a football player who has played a total of 11 professional football league matches.

Surely if all they're interested in is profit, then they will also realise that the best place to make a profit is in the Premier League... and would therefore do whatever they can to get us there??? And if that is the case then long may it continue!

We don't sell out to capacity, we get an average of around 75% capacity, so we don't need to expand yet, we only just filled the ground in the PL and we're now in a recession. We need a PL team before a World class ground.

You've not read what i said properly. Im saying that because they've spent money on the ground, they've been left with nothing to spend anywere else.

I read it, but were the ground expansions always dependent upon getting 8 million from the sale of two academy players? Does the kop extension also mean that theres no money in the transfer kitty? That'd be pretty poor planning if it was.

My point was that if the above is true then all ground expansions should be put on hold until we're in a position to fill the ground.
