Not one of you are reading the script. You are all reading it in your "OWN" self opionated world. I was not slagging the ex Wed player off one jot, just saying that in the scheme of things, focus on bloody reality as it is. Geary has not been being involved in "the disgraceful mess" that we are now in". If you have half the passion towards towards Sheffield United as i do, your thought's and comment's should be about the people causing our desperate plight.

Going to strip this statement down just for a laugh. What script, the one going around in your head? Everyone elses world is self opionated (???) and yours is what exactly? Focus on the "bloody reality" it's a football club not a battlefield. "Disgraceful mess" where? What? Who? Why? Its a bit shit I'll grant you but disgraceful mess? Christ I can only assume you weren't around in the late 70's early 80's or at most points under Brearley. When Sam Hashimi got involved, when MacDonald got involved, when we had our own transfer embargo, when we had to fork out from the fans pockets to sign Hodges, etc, etc, etc.

Half the passion you do? I didn't realise we were having a pissing competition over who was the biggest blade because had that been the case I would have left you to your own devices.

Sit down, have a stiff drink and slap yourself in the kisser. Hopefully once you have calmed down you may realise that while its far from perfect it isn't a world thats ending. Its just a bad run of form.

Failing all that nip off to the Docs and get some Prozac, give yourself a break.

Remember Curtis? I really mis.......ah:D

Rejected by Wednesday? Rejected by an absolute clunge of a manager who wouldn't know a footballer if one headbutted him in the knee.
"Clunge!" Word of the year! I now have a mission to work that one into a conversation.

Welcome back Del boy! I hope you have a long career as a commentator in years to come with that voice. Andy Gray out, Geary in. You know it makes sense.

Here's another thought on the Geary reception.

He is liked and indeed loved by most Blades, despite having played for the Pigs. If we had been at the top of the league and clear by a lot of points he would still have got a terrific reception from the Blades fans. I suspect that if we were properly shit, instead of a bit shit at the moment, then he would have still got a warm welcome back even if we were at the arse end of the table by a mile.

So to berate any Blades for cheering the return of a Lane favourite is rather bemusing. Unless of course you were booing him coming on, because that's all "proper" fans do these days?

what a shambles and pathetic mess Judas Fatwell has taken "OUR" beloved Sheffield United too, when the highlight of our season is to welcome back a player "REJECTED" by Wednesday 5 seasons ago. Very Very sad!

*Yawns. Shakes head*

I certainly didn't expect to see Geary wearing a Blades shirt again after his injuries and was pleased to see the guy back on the field.
My take on Geary is that he had one great season with the Blades and on the back of that became Cult Status.
As a player he is not in the same class as Naughton or Walker but he gives 100% every time he plays! and I would rather see that than overpaid players strolling around or content with warming the bench.
I see Geary as a bonus this year and excellent cover for Walker and Naysmith when he's back!

Walker isn't doing his defensive duties very well at the moment but we dont have much option do we?

I think we forget how yopung and inexperienced Walker is sometimes!
Last season he cam in and played magnificent, but it was only seven or eight games.
We were spoilt by the Naughton phenominum and believed that Walker could be better.
This year, whilst we don't know the agenda Walker is not our player anymore, a loan player from a Premier League side perhaps with other agendas eg improve your attacking game we want you as a midfielder for example I don't profess to be in the know Just a theory.
And for the life of me can you tell me how moving to Spurs and not playing matches will improve Naughton! Also see Wright Phillips, Sidwell at Chelsea etc

agree but if he keeps getting found out as a defender then he is not improving his game and his passing has been awful at times.
Did we sell these to prospects at the right time?

Personally, I believe it was a case of football agents cashing in and the players having their heads turned by glamour and wealth and on the other hand I don't believe the Blades did enough to keep them and persuade them that after a full season in the CCC when both would be playing every week they would develop far better than sat on the bench (or not) watching Premier League football.
How many youngsters have gone to PL clubs too early in their careers and finished up not developing into the players they should have?
As I said before when Wright Phillips went to Chelsea it cost him his England place to sit on the bench and watch foriegn stars play football.
he could do that watching match of the day on Saturday night!

as i said i agree with the wright phillips type senario.
Walker however is playing CCC football and at the moment not progressing. Will he end up being an average player? in which case united cashed in at the right time. (I like Walker and this is just my at the moment assessment).

He appears to me to have developed a 'billy big time' attitude and lords it around the park :(

Is it 'billy big time' or perhaps frustration at the lack of ability in front of him, and to the left of him.

Don't forget he's played only approx 30 games for the first team..he will have a down turn in form at some stage and that is where Geary,France and go can step in and give him a rest.

I thought Walker was excellent in the past few games going forward, he was our main attacking threat against Newcastle and won us the penno at the Dingles. He's only 19 and people are expecting him to play like a seasoned pro.

To me he still looks like the only player who could easily make the step up from the current crop.

Exactly. Everyone who comments on recent games conveniently forgets about the injury problems
Because the whole injury problem is all blackies fault
Blackwell cannot be blamed for the injuries, however, he is very much responsible for the fact that we started the season with an unbalanced squad, without adequate cover in key areas; eg. goalkeeper, centre half, centre mid, striker.
This is his responsibility, he is the Manager.

Thats a reasoned enough statement and one I pretty much agree with. As poor as I thought he was, selling Bromby without first getting cover in was a bit daft. I thought selling both Walker and Naughton was short sighted as well.

Where I do have pity for Blackwell however is that no one could have guessed it would have been so bad so quickly. As with most things, if you take everyones opposing views somewhere in the middle lies the truth.

I should imagine that its frustration at the lack of quality in midfield, the lack of cover and the way he is being asked to play the game. I can't believe he is comfortable with belting a 60m yard long diagonal ball into the opposition area, from our half of the pitch.

I'll not bother to explain then! You're obviously not interested in any body's opinion but your own!

I'm interested in opinion, even yours. But when it is so obviously based around hating all and anything Blackwell and the players have any involvement in it gets to the point where you just put your head in your hands and move on.

I take your comment "Walker appears big time" and laugh. You don't know him, you don't know what goes on at the club any more than I do. Whats the point in you answering when whatever you say is based utterly on speculation? Biased speculation at that. There is no utterance of fact in there whatsoever.

Reasoned debate is the source of all things good on here. Yours is rarely reasoned and without a bias towards knocking anything and everything.

Its a fair point that he couldn't guess that the injuries would be so bad so quick, but that is what a squad sqstem is there to protect you from, the unexpected. We dispensed with Bromby and Ugo (not that I think we should have retained either) but we shouldn't have let them go until they were replaced, for the cover they provided. We knew before the season started about the keeper problem and the centre mid problem ie lack of cover. Billy was also allowed to move on loan before a replacement was in place. Not good practice at all. We should have been using loans for emergencies, not squad players.
The only way out of this seems to be to sign a keeper, centre half, centre mid and possibly a striker in January (not on loan) and that won't be cheap, so will it happen?
With the expected loss of Killa (waste of space at the moment) and Cotterill in January; and with Treacy & Davies coming to the end of loan deals, I fear that all may not be as rosy as we would all like the near future to be.

You've missed the point Bladesway, I did say 'Appears' because I don't know what the young man is thinking - it's how he comes over to the spectator sometimes - he may equally be thinking'Why am I playing with this bunch of losers'- I don't know but I never put it down to fact
I would like to think I put in reasoned debate and don't knock everything and anything
I just happen to think that this seasons plans were not well thought out befoer the season started by the management team - McCabe included:
Goalkeeper -Suspended
Long Term Injuries- Geary and Naysmith two fullbacks yet we sell two fullbacks Naughton and Walker
Centre Back Cover - None let Ugo go and Sell Bromby
Wingers -Sign Two Reid and Little, Loan Treacey start the season playing Ward wide on the right
Strikers: Sign Evans for £3million (McCabes words not mine) plus Henderson, release Webber and loan out Sharp no cover Loan sign Cresswell in panic.
Plus no one is surprised given their track record that Morgan, Henderson and Ward are going to be suspended during the season perhaps twice
That is not a good game plan add to it the horrendous injury problems and bingo thats where we are! Somebody has to be blamed it wasn't an accident - Im sorry but Blackwellis the manager he has to carry the can!
