My comment on social media on this date last year after our 3-0 defeat at Middlesbrough. The defence was wide open, midfield poor and no threat from the attackers.
I added that it was depressing hearing boos at half time, asked what Lundstram and Evans provide in midfield and wondered if Leon Clarke was past it.
It was a long hard season, but after that game I couldn't imagine that we were going to get promotion. And if the first few games don't go well this season, perhaps we should remember how quickly things can turn, especially with Wilder as manager.

The unfortunate thing is, Palace is a 6 point game. Bournemouth and Southampton are both teams we should be looking to pinch a point from.

A slow start will get us in the sticks straight away.

The number of threads expessing how crap the season will be that get posted on here when we lose a game is nothing new.
Shoutbox goes into melt down.
Sometimes as a football fan it is hard to just stand back and see what happens and show patience.

We need some of this

Or, alternatively, we get off to a flyer and accumulate a 1/4 of the points we need to stay up ;)

Got me thinking; what would constitute a short, easy season? Even 3 seasons ago it seemed to go on a bit.

14 wins out of the first 14 games. We’d then look to pick up a couple of points during the remainder of the season.

We have started slowly the last 3 seasons, but not suffered greatly as a result. With 38 games this year, there is less time to play catch-up, so a good start is important. Playing catch-up mid-season when we play away at Man City, Liverpool and Arsenal in quick succession will not be easy...

There is no such thing as a six point Premier League game in August and no one connected with the club should approach it as so.

We could lose the first two and stay up easily. We’ve had awful starts and won the league before.

I'd say it is, Palace are a relegation rival. Last time we went down by a single point. If it comes down to them staying up above us by a point, we'll look at a loss to them as a cock up.

A six pointer is a game you absolutely have to win.

Palace finished 12th last year.

This is a winnable home game in August. Nothing more. Why put the extra pressure on it?

I think you'll find mate in 07 we went down by a single goal 38 points -23 Wigan 38 points -22.

They had a good season, but I just think they're a team who are gonna be fighting relegation this time around. Can't see them doing well this year. Especially if Zaha leaves.

Oh, well that proves my point even more :) Even this early results against teams like Palace are vital.

That is so true we have to be looking at beating the Palaces' Watford's, and such in this league especially at BDTBL, remember when we missed 2 pens against Blackburn all them years ago had they gone in we'd have stayed up. When we went down on May13th 07 I gave my son my ST, as I was in hospital following suspected heart attack when we equalised I nearly brought roof down in NGH.

Well yes, if you’re a knee-jerking, foot-stamping invertebrate, wholly unable to accept that all teams lose from time to time, that’s true. The reaction on here to even conceding a goal is risibly embarrassing.

I’ll get extra crayons in, I think.
