That old cliche of the end of season table never lying - I've just noticed that there's a very realistic chance that we could finish behind Ipswich! That's in spite of Keane seemingly allowing them to take the first half of the season off.
Both Ipswich and Reading looked like having a tough relegation battle on their hands in February whilst we were being touted as play-off contenders. Sod the "it's not over until it's mathematically impossible", if we don't pull our fingers out we'll finish in the bottom half.
I'm not sure how that figures with the plan going into this season, but failing to finish in the top half is not quite my definition of consolidating and rebuilding.
On the occasions we've won at the Lane this year there've been a number of times that my Dad and I have laughed about how the opposition have 'out-crapped' us and that the division must be appalling if we're realistic play-off hopefuls the way we were playing. The next 3-4 weeks could add a sense of realism to the table.
Of course - if we win tonight we'll look pretty comfortable where we are - any takers for that??
