A lot of us, including me thought it was at the start of the season, (mainly because Wolves are not here anymore) but there seem to be some really good sides at the top end who have got off to cracking starts, Bristol, Peteboro in the top two, MKD scoring for fun, Chezzie looking like this years Rotherham, Coventry back on their own patch now also a threat.

It looks like a tough division in my opinion.

Clearly there's always better sides. But the 'better sides' as you mentioned this year, don't compare to: Wolves, Brentford, Bournemouth, Charlton, Wednesday, Huddersfield of previous seasons. It is definitely an easier league to get out of, however it's fair to say we aren't the team we were in previous seasons also.

Could you imagine our team from three years ago in this league? They'd absolutely walk it in first gear! That's probably the way to measure it.

Yes my worry is looking at Bristol, Peterboro and MKD is I can't see two out of those three both having a major collapse to let somone else in, if we are to get amongst the top two we will have to get there on our own ability and form, we can't expect any favours

Every season the league gets easier, according to posters on internet messageboards and every season I do my nut about it. I don't get how people arrive at this conclusion. Literally every season someone says it. How can the standard of football be getting weaker every season when it's clearly increasing every season?

Look at some of the gash players that plied their trade in the early days of the Premier League. They wouldn't even cut it in the Championship these days. The standard of coaching improves, the technology improves, knowledge of science (diet, medicine etc) increases by the day... but the league is weaker this season for sure. Every. Single. Year.

I get your point moDtheGod ,but there is no one in this league in the same class as Wolves were last year, admittedly they did have parachute payments but that doesn't change the fact that they were miles better than anything in this league this season.

It doesn't need a major collapse. There are forty (40 that is) games to go.

Bit early to make a comment like that with any confidence, in my view. Only time will tell if that's the case or not. I think Bristol City will have something to say about your comments, for sure.

We haven't clicked into gear yet and if we win our game in hand we are only 1 win off 2nd place. Not a major collapse or upturn needed. I think the next 2 away games will tell us where we are.

Absolutely right. There isn't an easier Premier League, Championship, Div. 4 etc. for many of the reasons MtG states. I suspect we may be having a similar discussion in a years time. 'Yeah, but Blackpool and Bolton still have parachute payments etc...' By making these excuses deflects criticism away from our team. A look at TFLS on any given week shows teams playing with more energy, organisation and scoring more goals than us at the moment.

Are Bristol, Peterborough etc. better teams than us? At the moment, definitely yes. We're getting by on the skin of our teeth and cannot hope for a sudden collapse by the teams who are beginning to 'show'.

I think there are maybe one or two better teams than us. Not a big gulf, and one that may be rectified in the loan market but, right now, that's the case.

I think we surpass them with our strength in depth and I think that will be our joker over a long season. We can lose any one of our first team and remain relatively unshaken. Can you say the same of the other runners?

Our game in hand is away vs MKD so I agree that it's a bonus for this to be postponed. The reason is that we would have been out scored If it was played last week as planned but, and here is the "if" upon which the whole season pivots, if we do get the striker situation sorted and we begin to fire on all cylinders then we may have a chance of converting that game in hand into points. If we don't or if we are betting our season on Prison Break - that game in hand will be pretty meaningless.

I am very worried about this. We all know about the striker issue. It's been going on for a long time - two and a half years (corresponding to a decision by a jury of one man's peers) and it still remains unsolved. The investment in quality in this area has just not happened. As I see it we have not addressed it with any conviction whatsoever and betting our whole season on picking a loan that will fill this gap is optimistic at best - otherwise it's just pure folly.

Our game in hand is at "Home" vs MKD

We did sign a striker the pre season after Ched was locked up but promptly sold him when the transfer window opened,
