If you're a football manager or an aspiring manager, you might want to have a look at this. Only one former Blades manager out of this lot (since 1995) is now working (granted, one is dead)!

Danny Wilson, lookaway now....

Dave Bassett - Last seen on Sky, stating "Wilf is the Zone"
Howard Kendall - last seen on a park bench with a brown paper bag and a bottle
Nigel Spackman - Last seen as a pundit and playing in the masters
Steve Bruce - last seen clearing his desk at Sunderland
Adrian Heath - Last seen as a pantomine horse
Neil Warnock - Last seen trending #WarnockforEngland on Twitter
Bryan Robson - Last seen on Panorama trying to market the Blades to a dodgy Thai bloke
Kevin Blackwell - Last seen applying for the Nigerian National team
Gary Speed - Deceased
John Carver (caretaker) - Assistant/ coach to Pardew at Newcastle
Micky Adams - Port Vale 11th in League 2

You missed out Steve Thompson (summariser on BBC Radio Lincolnshire) and Russell Slade (caretaker in 1999 and now managing Orient).

Kin el yes... Steve Thompson, I remember him away at Crewe back in probably 95-96.

The game was there for the taking, but he wouldn't make a tactical change to attack them. Graham Stuart was trying his heart out, but had no back up

Slade is doing pretty well though at Orient

Tad harsh on the ones in bold i reckon mate.

Warnock has done well at Palace & QPR since.
Speed did well at Wales
Bruce has been a Premiership manager since.
Carver just isn't a manager. More of an assistant.

Heath & Robson can just fuck off !

Spackman, you have to feel sorry for. If he'd not had all his players sold from under him he could've been a great manager and who knows. We might be in Europe now

This probably says more about the quality of manager we end up with than what we do to them.

Four of the managers did manage in the PL (Bassett, Kendall, Bruce and Warnock) have managed in the PL after leaving us, so they were not all crap!

And Bruce left us for Huddersfield after a couple of micro seconds 'cos they were more ambitious.

The only game we played v Crewe under Thompson was on 30/4/98, when due to our fixture backlong caused by our FA CUp run we played 4 games in 8 days. Crewe were our next to last game and we needed a win to be sure of a play off place; however we were 1-0 down late on. We get got a pen which Stuart missed. Crewe then went 2-0 up, before Ian Hamilton scored to see us lose 2-1.

It went then to the last game which we managed to lose 1-0 at Stockport. Luckily, our rivals, Birmingham only managed a draw in their last game, so we got in the play offs as having scored more goals (that was the system that season - Birmingham had a better GD).

Adrian Heath is (apparently) Head Coach at Orlando City, a 3rd level US team with ambitions to be an MLS franchise in the near future.

I think I covered that with Panto horse ;)

In one!

Always makes me laugh when the usual "6 managers have always picked him" is brought to the argument when anyone dares to point out any flaws in Monty's game.
We are where we are because we have had poor managers recently, there current employment status sort of confirms that in my view.

Or alternatively three of those managers went on to manage in the premier league after leaving us, and two went into international management. (I don't think anyone would argue that the Thai job was a bigger job than the blades though).

Incidentally i was talking to robbo's godson the other night, and Apparently none of the top clubs in Thailand would release their players for the national team, so during his time, the national team was comprised of second division Thai players.

Only if you rewrite history!

Spackman was a dreadful manager as he subsequently proved in his short and spectacularly poor spells at Barnsley and Millwall. He has never managed any club for a complete season! As for 'his' players - He allowed Charles Green to manage the club and that's who signed the players. Spackman had never heard of Dellas and Borbokis until he met them at the Lane.

Ok, its partly a tongue in cheek thread, had an email thread going around today about managers who are out of work and I was pretty surprised that almost all of our former managers aren't working, so I put the list together and sent it around.

Obviously its harsh on Warnock and Speed, but its a bit of a snapshot "where are they now" list. NW could be managing England next week for all we know.

So don't take it too seriously.

Crikey was it as late on as that. My memory is shocking

Blackwell;s win ratio is up there with the best. Surprised to see him still out of work. I'd have thought a League 1 / 2 club would have come in for him.
