Is it time to give Jordan Slew a start on the wing?

After the performances of late from mssrs Yeats, Ward and Cresswell, is it time that we gave Jordan a start? I know he is still young but so were Mick Jones, Alan Birchenall, Len Badger, Phil Jagielka and the two Kyles when they made an impact.

Also, fans are less likely to take their frustration out on a youngster trying his best than someone who can't be bothered to put a "shift in",

I haven't seen anything in the games I watched him in to suggest he would be a winger in the making. Personally I think he is ready for the next step in his development (have done all season to be honest) and we should be looking at getting him three months on loan at a league 2 or 1 club.

Yep, given that we've an ubundance of strikers (though obviously not overburdened with a plethora of good ones) he should be sent out to league 1 where he'll get games, and hopefully goals.

Bit random hodgy. If anything I would be thinking about giving Lowton a run on the right side of midfield.

If Slew was going to get a go in the starting xi it would have to be down the centre (imo instead of Evans - he played alright yesterday but he's still not hurting defences) where he's used to be playing.

It's probably not the best time to be blooding youngsters. He'll probably get shed loads of goals for us next season in the League 1.

Totally disagree hansdworth. Thought Ched was a ray of light in an, otherwise, mediocre and venomless attack yesterday. Ched seems to improve every game and actually looks like he wants the ball and is willing to chase lost causes. Its a real shame he doesnt play for a team where he will have some goals laid on a plate for him, and has to create it all for himself. I agree with the addition of Slew, but Ched is the first name on the sheet for me at the moment. Closely followed by Williamson, who i also thought was excellent last night.

We are already playing players out of position, and putting Slew on the wings would probably hamper his development. What we need to do is get a winger on loan IMO.

If anyone watched the reserves last week they would say he is no where near ready.

I'd play Gregory, Harriett and Wilkinson in the first team as wingers before Slew got anywhere near tbh

His wide play looked to be OK when he had a hand in the goals against Millwall in the Youth Cup. He looks physically stronger than his team mates who would be competition for a wide place for the 1st team. It would be good idea to get him more experience elsewhere normally, but our need may be greater at the moment. There is the youth team quarter final to consider too. A loan move at the moment might not be the best idea.

I thought Bogdanovic did well against Villa. Why not let him continue? Williamson should be central and Adams must chose between Monty and Doyle.

I agree re Bogdanovich. He always looks like footballer in the rare glimpses he gets on, and I'd ove to se him get a run. Several managers haven't fancied him though.

Williamson needs playing centrally. For me, he's our stand out performer and shoud be played in his best position.

Back the OT. I don't think Cresswell offers anything. He hasn't for ages. Surely some of the youth, be it Slew or whoever, would be worth a try? It really is difficult to see what we'd be risking.

That's very easy to say, but with Yeates and Ward both staggeringly poor just now, someone has to go wide, and Willo can do it fairly well.

Yes we want him central, but we need to juggle terribly scarce resources. I'd consider Lowton for the role away from home, but I've no clue who deserves the left wing spot. Frankly nobody does.

No. He's not ready to try and play as a striker for the first team, never mind a winger.

Next season might be his chance, but right now he's not the way to go. For me it would do more harm to his career than good.

frightened me to death.. my brain somehow munged it to 'jordan stewart on the wing'.. surely not :)

I agree totally ........ what he doesn't need now is his growing confidence damaging - he should be loaned out to a lower league club to get games and experience under his belt for next year.

I think Ched stood out head and shoulders as our best player on tuesday. Cresswell/Ward/Yeates all look shocking atm and if the Manager can't see that then we have a problem. keeper is the worst (permanent) we've had at the Lane for 20 yrs. New nickname - Dracula.

If Adams doesnt get a keeper and at least 1 wide player with pace and the ability to cross a ball in the next couple of weeks ........ face it, we're down !!

And another thing - where does it say in the league rules that we are only allowed to sign midgets?? We already have the smallest squad in the division and he signs Doyle at 3ft 2in. !!??!!

Come on Mr.Adams - give us a fighting chance to compete.

I saw him play against Wendy's academy/YTS/whatever they call it side, he was on the wing a lot, and he didn't exactly make his case then. So against seasoned professionals rather than the Piglets, I'd say he's not ready. Yet.

Well given our rumoured absentee list today, I'd imagine he can choose where he's like to play today - so long as he's fit.

Bogdanovic out wide is my suggestion. We have to get more goalscorers in the team and he showed against Villa that he's capable of creating things. I also think Williamson being central would help whoever gets the nod on the other wing. I'd keep playing Ward or Yeates, and hope that good balance may help them back to form.

Its obvious that we need a creative midfielder, so play willo in the middle and slew out wide, then balls can be played down the channels for slew to run onto. He might not be a winger but his pace would mean teams would have to keep possibly two men on him, preventing the opposition from getting forward down the flanks, by constantly switching sides it keeps both left and right side of the defence pinned back. Simples really. Ps, applying for the managers job!!!
