Stevenage had the best record in the division at home to teams in the top half.
P11 W7 D3 L1

Against teams in the bottom half, they had the 19th best record.
P12 W3 D7 L2

It's more than likely a psychological/motivational thing (they also held Spurs) but is there an argument to sit back there as they would, on the face of it, seem to fare better against sides who come at them?

For me, the key is to do what we didn't do last time we went there and play our natural passing game. Because of that, and the personnel we have available, I think we have to go 4-5-1.

Doyle and McDonald playing their usual games, Quinn playing closest to a lone centre forward like he did at Goodison and Williamson on the right with Flynn or O'Halloran on the left. I think that would make us nice and compact, give us plenty of passing options when we're in possession and also mean we've got a good number of goal threats on the pitch.

Given we are shipping goals at the moment and our strike force has been decimated it makes perfect sense to flood the midfield, hit the on the break and get them back to the Lane level. In my view it should help us conceding as many goals from losing possession in the opposition half and getting caught, which has happened far too frequently of late.

According to a mate of mine they totally change their style for tv games , they cut out the nasty thuggishness and time wasting and cheating
He told me this after I mentioned I was quite impressed with them last week

weve nowt to come anyway-bring on the `WHO WILL WE GET ON THE OPENING DAY OF THE SEASON?`thread.
I`ll say, portsmouth away, another horrible long away drive, just to please trevor brooking and his `hate anything to do with sufc `campaign.
wendy will be on tv on the championships opening day,at home to someone crap like bristol,a nice easy game for the new super power in english football, all welcomed with opened arms into the championships cuddly bosom.
it makes me want to fucking vomit.

I silently agreed with you there cooper, good observations, it appears to have worked. Both teams had little in terms of real chances, but i thought we edged that aspect. We looked suspect at set pieces but i have that usual feeling of slight optimism whilst very wary of the ultimate disappointment.

But anyway what ever happens happens, UTB
