Hello, I was going to put this game by game whilst we was there, but couldnt seem to create a new message at the time.

so as way of an update please see below

the Interblades played in the Worldnet Tournament for the first time at UCLAN, preston, where 6 out of the 8 pitches were Desso pitches. after pitching up our gazebo and windbreak (and it needed it thats for sure... I am fairly certain someone spotted McClaren testing their new F1 car for Aerodynamics on the other side of the fields

The InterBlades
BR: L-R Rob Brown, Robbie Hume, Adi Brown, Mark "I am Sparta" Ashton, Tom McCaig, Brandon Hegyi, Nathanial Bell
FR L-R Liam Wasden, Danny Waller, William Kirby, Harry Halliwell, Declan Quick, Danny Shepherd

(hopefully the image works... as work blocks instagram so I cant test it)

anyway on to the matches,

Chorley were our first opponents
Chorley went ahead in this game before Brandon Hegyi netted the equaliser (I believe this was his first ever Interblades goal) this finished 1-1 but the funniest moment was when the lads who had just played on the pitch before hand constantly barracked the Chorley Lads screaming "Chorley FM Coming in your Ears" (reference to Peter Kaye sketch I believe for the younger ones)

second up was a made dash to get to our friendly agains the IFA Sluts (yes they were called that as they were a mish mosh of players from different clubs) unfortunately I think both the previous game and the long walk to the other pitch had done us in (a little bit of "its just a friendly" crept in too) and we lost 5-0 with most the goals coming in the first half

We then dredged ourselves back to the main pitches ready for our games vs FC Rearguard (Tranmere), I cramped up during the wait and our captain had misheard the time we kicked off having gone for a bite to eat thus not returning until after the kick off, leaving us with a the bare 11.
We were still trying to organise ourselves when they scored their first goal, the captain eventually made it back, we then lost a player to a minor foot injury, meaning I was summoned back onto the pitch, we miraculously pulled one goal back with a goal from Tom McCaig. We then got our noses in front after a moved starting at left back from me, sending a knock down the line for Harry Helliwell to run on to was centred for Brandon Hegyi to collect his 2nd goal of the tournament. Unfortunately after half time injuries took their toll and I had to withdraw and others had to continue with minor knock, although I think it was more a psychological blow that cost us when a disputed offside goal was allowed to stand which gave Tranmere an equaliser, our heads dropped and they got 2 further goals

We then trotted off to our final friendly of the day, who were actual runners up in the plate competition Peterborough, the lads were 15 mins late due to knock ons with various games, so we played a game of Penalties…. I was shockingly the last man standing
Anyway when we finally got on with the game this has to have been the best and funniest game I have played in my 15 years of playing for the InterBlades, we spent most of the game laughing, as we had a running commentary being made to an ex Peterborough player all the way over in Canada through facetime, he later reffed the second half (whilst still maintaining the video link later self-dubbing it “Ref Wanker Cam” doing in match interviews with the players during dead balls situations. I cant remember who actually scored first however our first goal was by Danny Waller who had burst down the right hand side. we then went 3-1 up Danny Waller scored the 1 and I am unsure who got the other, the did pull 1 goal back to make it 3-2, which was great to have recorded a win.
Peterborough 2 InterBlades 3
Our last game was against Southampton, we were now really struggling with injuries, and our captain had to leave due to needing to get back to set up for a gig later that night. So with a patched up 11, we took to the field against what felt like a land of giants, it was obvious we were going to struggle with any set pieces and it was exactly that where we conceded. One of their big lads won the ball from a corner and in the pursuing scramble it was poked home, we did have a few chances to equalise including a 1 on 1 with the keeper but Harry Halliwell waited too long to pull the trigger and the keeper narrowed the angle and the chance was gone.
Southampton 1 InterBlades 0
With this we finished bottom of the group. And had an 11am start the next morning for the plate competition, we had drawn Chester.
Unfortunately day 1 had taken its toll and we only managed to get 10 players to take the field, we knew it was always going to be a struggle and the first half finished 2-0 the first was a ball slotted through the gap between CB and LB for their on running striker to slot it past the keeper, the second was a failure to clear our lines when the ball came in with 2 or three chances to clear went begging and we were punished. The second half did see us have chances. Nathanial Bell, playing in the unaccustomed Centre Back position, darted forward for a corner and struck a sweet header which rattled the crossbar before being cleared and Danny Weller burst through and was almost 1 on 1 with the keeper before being tugged back just before pulling the trigger, the free kick just outside of the box looked destined to go in from Adi Browns Right boot but a last gasp deflection knocked it wide
Chester FC 2 InterBlades 0
Hopefully we can now get a core of players this season to play and have a real good crack of it next season.

Such a shame the InterBlades has gone this way. Not being able to attract enough players to represent the club is a little disappointing, especially for a cracking weekend of football, banta and beer this WorldNet has given us in the past.

I personally played for 4 years until injury and work started taking it's toll and playing in WorldNet 3 times, one of which we lost in the Semi's of the plate from a team representing Arsenal Nigeria (and they had travelled from Nigeria too). We reached the 1/4r's (it think, might have been the semis) of the main cup, where we were robbed by an awful penalty decision from the ref. We also manged to get a game against Lyon (yep...the cheese eating surrender monkeys) one year too.

If anybody is out there that wants to play for the InterBlades I would recommend it. It's a great oppurtunity to meet like minded people and play games against some pretty decent opposition.

thanks for the glowing reference but I do concur it's a great weekednd and many of the teams use it simply as a big piss up.... :) cant you spawn some goalkeepers.... we are in desperate need??? haha

RC Lens fans (of the same ilk as the afore mentioned cheese eating surrender monkeys) actually attended this year, and brought 2 sets of teams, along with Livingston bringing a coach load (I am not sure whether that was the players that it brought or just for the alcohol lol)

I seemed to think that said Nigerian Arsenal players also featured some ex international players...

there was also an Ex Wedensday player that was playing for Halifax Town... I aint the foggiest who is was...

the one good thing is we have been able to keep going when others have fallen by the way side due to lack of fans.... **cough cough** Swillsborough lot **cough cough**

The GK for Arsenal Nigeria was an ex pro who i recognised at the time, but can't remember his name.
