I used to think he was a bit of a piss poor manager and tactically naive but then loads of people on here told me I was wrong and that I didn't know what I was on about and that he was the saviour and that he would lead us to promotion and didn't I know who his dad was and stuff like that and you know what? They is right, innit.

He's the best, well since David Weir. Pinchy says so, so it must be true.

Doesn't matter what the formation is if you continually pass it backwards and sideways - and play with no tempo. And thanks to Clueless Clough we have a squad full of average / poor players.

It does if part of the effects are less time on the ball, less space and more giving it back to the opposition.

We don't have a midfield capable of successfully creating space and playing football when outnumbered, one of our many problems.

Need a leader on the pitch, a stronger spine and more who take responsibility, regardless of formation/tactics.

Were his negative tactics to ask his players to hide today? if so, most of them followed his instructions to the letter.

What i just cannot get my head around is the fact he changed the formation when six games unbeaten, then after a terrible performance against Peterborough, decided to stick with the same formation, especially having not played 4-4-2 all season. Also i was stunned by his decision to bring Baxter instead of Doyle/coutts as he is the only player capable in that starting 11 of a moment of something special and i thought Doyle was awful today, hardly remember him touching the ball, and completely slows the play down when he gets it.

Don't you think Clough should have addressed those issues by now? He's brought about 20 players in.

Clough decides the tactics - ultra negative with no tempo. We are so easy to play against.

2-1 down today, corner to us with a couple of minutes to go, Fleetwood have everyone back yet we keep 3 or 4 back. A disgrace.

The only success Clough has had as a manager is in non-league. It's not hard to see why.

Hang on a minute, he's gone 4-4-2? everyone said that was the positive answer ;)
Not everyone. It's clearly not just about formation hence why our first half performances would have seen us relegated. It's about will to get the ball forward. We take an age to do it, and the box is full by the time we get the ball in. It's been the same all season.

We've shipped out the one bloke who broke the mould on that.

UTB

Will someone tell Nigel there is a new innovation in the game - its called a corner and we are allowed to score from them. Even crap sides with limited technical ability score from these. 18 corners today - last goal from a corner was McNulty v Orient - only one in the League all season (discounting JCR's as this came from 3rd phase) :(

I could only listen to the commentary today but it sounded like you have to give "little" Fleetwood some credit. Got their breaks and then defended like Trojans.
Saying that I think we have a goalkeeper issue and our defense is lacking some serious leadership. Where's Morgs v2.0 when you need it?
The teams above us were supposed to crumble under our pressure, not the reverse.
Still, we know exactly what we have to do now...and I think Clough and the players have the cojones to do it.

His players, Foxy. His tactics. His signings. His failure to spot the blindingly-obvious weak areas.

Ignoring today's goal from a corner then?

I have always said we dont have the squad to make 442 work. If the decision to play 442 was because the fans had put pressure on Phipps to make Nige change formation then I will be annoyed

Put Basham and Doyle Centre mid, bring Collins back in at CB then we have the players to go 4-4-2. Baxter can't play in the formation and worryingly its looking like Coutts legs have gone and he can't either.

I think that one of the basic problems is not how many we have up front, it is more how many we have at the back. When most visiting teams only play with one up front, why on earth have 4 at the back. Our visitors regularly have 5 in midfield, outnumbering us there. Some of those midfielders do go further forward when attacks on us are launched, but that can by countered by having our midfielders tracking back or killing their attacks off in the middle of the park by matching them up in number.

When we start an attack from defence,we have more players further up the field to provide a quick outlet without having to launch long, hopeful balls straight to their defenders

The problem is we are so predictable. There is no pace in the side apart from Done.

We to forget about having to play with a defensive midfielder, we need 2 box to box central midfielders who look to score goals running at the opposition defenses to create openings for others.

Our wide wait until the fullbacks are about 3 yard away to make a move or just stand there waiting for a pass. They should be looking to get behind the defence.

Our crossing today was from position were its so easy to defend. Most of them didn't get past the 1st man. Don't know what they practice at Shirecliffe

Clough has bought the wrong type of players to get us out of this division. Bristol, Preston, mk all have big strong players with pace, we have a team of midgets. He's another one of these managers who think we have to pass for the sake of passing like Barcelona or Spain, it's what the FA want everyone to play like. We can't do it our players are shite

We won't go up either automatic or in the play offs so at the end off the season get shut of Clough gods sake

It would be ironic if the supporter who Clough belittled on the radio by saying "thats why I stand in the technical area and you sit in the 10th row" after bringing on Freeman when the fans were yelling "bring on a striker" is still sitting in row 10 next season and Clough was not working in the technical area.

Perhaps he should realise that it is the people in the stands that pay his wages and the lack of them influence how long the manager stays in his job!

Maybe they're worried about being publicallyh humiliated by the manager?

I've been supportive of the manager, and thought the idea of car park protests ridiculous. I still think the car park idea not advised (but note the change). I also think that 4-4-2 was a good idea. But, from what I am reading, it's all gone a bit wring, with players not delivering the goods. And it's my belief that our manager has brought and developed good players. But they are not producing. And, much as I leave myself accused of hypocrisy, the responsibility and accountability point to one person.

I loved his post match comments about Basham's replacement when he starts his two game suspension. I was hoping he was going to say I'm going to take this opportunity to bring in a proper centre half that we have been lacking all season but no, he threw in the names Alcock and Freeman, with Brayford going centre half. Great we're going to have a defence made up of two right backs and two left backs, this is a disaster waiting to happen and Clough seems to be oblivious to the glaringly obvious. Two proper centre halves = plugging the massive gaps in the middle of defence.
