People seem to think NW buys a lot of strikers... but how many defenders has he purchased during his tenure at Bramall Lane.

Remember... that's any time after 2nd December 1999

To get you started...

  1. Claude Davis
  2. Mamadou Seck
  3. Matthew Kilgallon
  4. Leigh Bromby
  5. Derek geary
  6. Chris Morgan
  7. Robert Page
  8. Chris Armstrong
  9. Chris Lucketti
  10. David Sommeil
  11. Craig Short
  12. Alan Wright
  13. Mike Whitlow
  14. Colin Cryan

and it's over to you....

there are usually twice as many on the pitch at any one time though, so you'd be forgiven for thinking there should me more of them.

But how often do you see a defender substituted... and how often do you see a substitute striker come on? :)

There may be four defenders on the pitch, but four strikers could also be used within the course of a match...

I'd be worried if there were no defenders on the bench. Plus a squad is more than likely to have cover for left and right back as well as cover for the centre halves. Just because they're not on the bench doesn't mean they're not in the squad.

danny cullip.....
