With the starting XI in such disarray from departures, injuries & needing time to settle in (hopefully) newcomers I've never known such low expectations going into opening matches.

Although our opening fixtures (City apart) looked good opportunities for early points - I fear morale in our boots unless Hecky sets us up in a very conservative shape against Palace & Forest.

Hodgson is a counter attacking coach whose sides break at pace (much like Stuttgart) and personally I'd take a solid performance almost focusing on set pieces. Who knows 50p head Eags might get one on target?

With all the turmoil 2x Draws would be a good start in my view...

I'm normally optimistic but with this squad I'm really confident we'll struggle to even threaten to score, never mind actually score.
Think if we sit back...then our defence has proven it's actually really good.

I predict a 0-2 defeat against Palace and 0-2 away at Forest.
It's weird to think I'm going to the 1st match of the season this weekend with zero expectation, I've already accepted we've lost.

HOWEVER I expect us to make 1 or 2 signings before the Palace match
and I also expect 2 or 3 signings (our more ambitious signings) very close the end of the transfer window. It's not ideal and quite amateurish but I'm confident the bottom line will be we have a decent squad this season (better than last season) with a realistic chance of staying up.

We would lose to City anyway, and unfortunately I get the impression that this has been taken into consideration regards timings on incomings.
That it's not ideal we won't have them in for first 2. But by Sept we will have some more and don't worry Hecky I'm sure you don't mind having a considerably weaker hand than you should for 3 games.
