A lot of people still want us to bring in a decent striker if possible so if we did who would you leave out??

I'd leave Baxter out because I don't know and I think NC an the rest of us don't know where his best position is. Hasn't got the engine for a CM an is deffo not a CF so where does he play?

Scougall and Baxter could alternate in the number 10 role. We need a squad, not a team as shown by Wolves today. They had Dicko and Sakho on the bench! There wouldn't and shouldn't be a set 11, we need to add a striker (maybe 2) and keep all the others in the matchday squad.

Absolutely spot on. I'd ideally like to see Baxter in the Scougall role, but we need a striker like a player like BT (when he was fit/ in form) to do this. I think Baxter is doing a job up front and he does work hard, has a good touch and vision so gives us a decent option up front. Not a target man though so sometimes this limits the way that the ball can be played to him at times.

Obviously at the moment Scougall isn't doing anything wrong to be dropped, but him and Baxter should be fighting it out for this position.

Perhaps we could leave Howard out and play goalie's wag? But maybe not though . If we can get someone in who's not cup tied then fair enough, otherwise we're fine till next season. Lets give the players who dug us out of the sh*t DW got us in enjoy the rest of the season, along with the rest of us.

No hurry, Clough will have his sights on a few possibles already. The next transfer window could be very interesting

I feel it would be unfair to drop any of the above. But for purposes of bringing in a creative goal scorer, (I say creative as a typical fox in the box type player for example a billy sharpe wouldn't fit into our current formation) it would have to be Baxter, but then again, if we cant keep coady for next season I can see Baxter filling this role eventhough we would miss the runs forward.

Personally though I think the current formation/tactics is a plan B situation, doing a job to keep us in the league, which is all Clough was asked to do. I can see us playing 442 more often next season as this seems to be Cloughs preferred formation at Derby.

Which raises the question, who else do we drop to fit two strikers in?

Would love to see the stats for the amount of ground covered by Leon Clarke and Jose Baxter ,it would embarrass one of them.

I'd also like to see Baxter's stats. The few games I've seen him I've enjoyed watching his movement and I think he gets some stick for being lazy at times which I think is a little harsh. He's not a player that chases everything down from the front but that doesn't mean that he's lazy. I don't think he's one to chase lost causes.

But his passing and distribution is good, his vision is excellent and he plays the right ball for players. So if you get his stats, I'd be interested in his pass completions too

Said it before; it's not the striker in this system where its breaking down, its at right wing [both Preston and Wolves]

Baxter is doing great.
