There are clearly a number of people in favour of him being appointed first team manager. I think he could do a good job myself, but I'm still not convinced that he should be taken away from his current role.

My question is - If he does get it, who would you replace him with as academy manager?

Surely if we set Pembo on, we then have to make another massive appointment that will have a massive impact on the club's future development of young players. Rather than recycling opinions from other threads (regarding first team manager) this thread is to discuss who you would bring in for the academy if Pembo gets the job. Hypothetical discussion if you like! Thoughts????

The main thing is that that individual shares Pembo's football ethos.

I agree with you BH but what I'm asking is.....who????

Its ok saying he can take over and we'll bring someone in to carry on his work, but who would that be? Unless someone at the club has a viable replacement then how can we promote him???? The management of the academy is going to be crucial to us!

Paul Hart.

That's who I thought of.....but is it possible? Would he want it?

Forest's academy manager, Nick Marshall I think he's called. We tried to bring him in recently as assistant to Pemberton, but United wouldn't pay the amount of compensation Forest were after (surprisingly).

He wont want the top chair however if he did then we should go for Hodges. Anyone but Smith.

Don't think it should be about who we want. but should only be about who the manager wants.

I'm pretty sure that Fergie, Wenger etc will only operate if they decide who all coaches and scouts are.

Martin O'Neill was supposed to have turned down the England job because they tried to veto his back room appointments and retain their existing coaching set up. Rumours suggest that this was the main stumbling block in SOD coming to us.

I think when clubs start interfering wth this process thngs go wrong. The appointment of Directors of Football over the manager have in my opinion had a detrimental effect at Chelsea and Spurs in the past.

In the last few years I've never been clear about how these various decisions have been made at the Lane, and think this has played a part in our downfall.

He should stay where he is, but he should be involved in who is apoointed as Adams successor as whoever it is, needs to buy into how we should do things moving forward, top to bottom

Correct this is Pembo's choice if he is to become manager as they both share the same football ethos and coaching methods. Our chances of him obtaining him would be vastly increased if Billy Davies remains at Forest as Davies doesn't like using home grown talent (or players being coached by Marshall).
