'MILLWALL are ready to sign Sheffield United’s tough-tackling midfielder James Ashmore - with the blessings of his mentor Bryan Robson.

The 21-year-old is currently training with the Lions to see if the two sides can come to a loan deal.

But he may be just what Den boss Willie Donachie is looking for, after a personal recommendation from Robson.'

Why isnt he getting a chance at the lane, is this another billy sharp moment here?

No because its only a loan deal
And as far as i remember he hasn't been on loan before and Robson would believe he needs match experience before giving him a run:)

You don't HAVE to loan the kids out to give them expereince of lower league football, often a young player will find it much more comfortable playing with personnel around them that they already know and trust.

Look at the likes of Man City and Middlesborough, they have given their kids a chance before deciding if they would benefit from playing at a lower level first.

I know that Robbo will have a better idea then me of how good the lad is (given that i've never seen him play) but i am so fed up of the same invisible midfield displays from the likes of Monty and Tongey that just seeing a fresh face would give me a boost.

oh ar, hes a decent player. watched him a few times and played against him/with him a few times.

way things are id put him in front of monty at the moment.

I thought he may get a chance with him playing in the pre-season games.

I'd have hoped to have seen him in the league cup games, i know the opposition wasn't brilliant but it would have been good to see how he fitted in with the rest of the team, especially seeing as we have the midfield crisis at the moment
