If Boro are certs for going up

Disagree. We did well to contain them, but cannot compete with them quality-wise. Unlucky not to get a point, but at the end of the day, they've spent £43 million on their squad. We haven't spent that in the last 20 odd years. They will be pushing for the title, we will be happy with a top half finish.

Personally, I think we need to be looking at better options than Freeman & Stevens. Also I think we need Moore back as soon as we can get him in. Experience counts for a lot for a keeper.

Solid, strong, fit, well-organised and workmanlike................but not a lot else However, these qualities will get them a long way

One bent linesman between us - Blackman had fuck all to do.

Unimpressed with Boro. Lots of possession but mainly in their own half and across the middle. Blackman hardly troubled and they were hanging on at the end. Classic Clough jnr performance and they will win fuck all this season.

Boro have a number of qualities recent signings just bedding in, by the end of September, October they will be flying.

Still think they will win the League.

Like I said, we did well to contain them... did their keeper make a save? We can't compete with them for the simple reason that they've bought up a good chunk of quality to get them back to the premier league (a bit like what we did to get back to the championship). They will be miles ahead of us in the league come the end of the season (if they aren't, then it will be a failure on their part).

I'm not disheartened by the performance today. Far from it, but I think we're a long way off challenging the top sides in this league.

When Boro got their goal I was expecting the to kick on steamroller us but they didn't. I was rather surprised by that especially since Bamford, Britt and Gestede all looked dangerous.

This. Their complacency almost cost them but they were clearly a better side on today's showing.

Typical Middlesbrough performance, according to a Boro fan I know. Reminiscent of how they got up under Karanka; get a goal and then bottle it up. No real intent or ambition to get more.

As he said, though, that's all well and good but it doesn't work at the higher level as most Premier League teams will get through and score. They tried to play the same last season and stank the place out every week.

If we can go to the big bollocks side and lose unfairly we will be OK, their keeper you talk about not making saves, how many did ours make?

Still think they'll be up there, but nothing special.
They seemed to have more height and mobility and were physically strong, but we were ok until the goal, and I thought Leon should have slotted that chance in,but took to long...could've been 1-0 another day and a different game.
Second half we were better again when Ched came on and went 442..Lino was a joke, nothing wrong with disallowed goal.
Thought Carruthers was poor after a decent start, but he's about the only one who's going to run past his man..we need one or two more who can,but early days...still think we'll be ok...If Boro are favourites we have nothing to fear.

They're like last year's Bolton - they have the money in the division, and are going to get up, even if its not pretty. Its how it is these days
