Wondering if anybody can help me recall an incident and to clarify some stuff.

A few years ago at Hull away, something happened involving Kyle Walker (?) and the replay of what happened on the big screen. Possibly we were denied a penalty but I genuinely can't remember what it was. Any ideas?

What are the rules regarding showing stuff from the game on a screen as it happens? Is it that you can show the game as it happens but not show any replays of major incidents so as to not influence what happens on the pitch?

Just been chatting about technology and football on another thread, and what stadiums might/might not do in the future to incorporate connectivity. If what I've said above is true, I can't see it lasting too long now that football is experimenting with video referees and the like.

Also a bit of a precursor to getting our shiny new telly installed :D

I believe this was the game: https://www.11v11.com/matches/hull-city-v-sheffield-united-26-february-2009-284451/

I was there and remember this as a school mate, at the time, got his debut in this game. I think one of their goals hit the crossbar and bounced down and was deemed to have crossed the line. The replay showed the ball wasn't over the line and the players were pleading with the ref to look at the big screens but he wasn't having any of it. The crowd was going mad as well as (i think) it was right in front of us and we didnt think it was over either with the screens confirming that.

Back then I think the rules only covered league matches with regards to showing 'controversial' incidents during the game. As this was an FA cup game they were allowed to show the incident.

My memory isn't brilliant so might have got a few of the details wrong about this but I think im about there.

Edit: found the highlights - go to about 20secs for the incident:

Was he trying to score a bleedin' own goal?!

Naughton, not Walker! That was the one, cheers.

Watching that, I always forget about Lee Hendrie :D:D

Ok. Was it that he was playing centre half for the first time. I seem to remember there was something about Walker in this game

Yes, I remember him playing CB that day, and he did quite well.

I think this was the game when Macmanamen (spelling?) was part of the commentary team. He said something ridiculous about the replay for that 'goal' like 'you can't see if its crossed the line as the post is blocking the view'?!!

I was there and remember events clearly.
Walker was playing and his first five, maybe 10 minutes were a nightmare, he was out of position, missed headers etc. I was particularly watching him as he was regarded as a good prospect and thought what a blow it would be if he was substituted. Then he came good and the rest of the match was excellent. Bloke next to me said 'that lad will play for England'. Was it you anyone on here??

Regarding the ball over the line incident, it was right in front of me and clearly a mistake. The linesman took the worst stick I can recall at a game (and that's saying summat) made worse by the video replay. He was an older guy and a bit overweight. I seem to recall there was an apology issued after the match for the mistake??

Aymen Tahar was the fella making his debut wasn't he? Remember being in the away end and couldn't believe there was no sort of visible trouble, clearly was never a goal.

McManaman said he thought the ball was "more in than out". He clearly doent know the rule!
