Granted, I only watched on TV, but the pitch looked absolutely horrendous. I was lambasting some of the first touch control of our players, but then I looked again and realised the ball was bobbling all over the place. It really added to the turgid nature of the match (along with their constant fouling).
Genuine question - is there a minimum standard a pitch must adhere to before fines are dished out?
I know they have issues with the location near the river, and the water table has an impact, but that pitch is really not fit for purpose.
If they were ever to make it to the Premier League I imagine it would cost an absolute fortune to upgrade their stadium to the required standards.
