To be fair our defending was poor and so was theirs as well. I expected us to be a bit leggy after Saturday.

Brilliant reactions from Done for that third goal. I thought it was heading out for a corner.

Their pitch looks awful.

Like I said on the other thread, for their third goal, player waltz's round four of our players, has a shot, ball comes out, another player waltz's around three or four of players, scores.

We can't keep doing that.

Defensively we seem tired and assume that's down to Saturday. That said it seems Wigan looked just as poor.

Done is a proper goal poacher, great finish like you say.

Sharp two assists and a goal and yet he could have scored a couple more. What an effort from a Blade who needs injections in his foot to get through games at present. On the night he lacked a bit of composure and tried to blast every chance; he must rate their keeper Jaskeleinan perhaps.

1st goal against: McEveley too busy ranting at the ref for stopping his pass and lost concentration; the scorer was through behind him.

Second goal against simply basic cross into a well defended area.Edgar and Collins were statues and they have to communicate and one or the other has to take responsibility. Basham saw the run but didn't make the ground.

3rd goal - our keeper's parry out wasn't too bad and the ball was there to clear; we had enough defenders around.

Done at his best second half. Not "Goals of the Month" but he'll keep popping them in just like that. Good striker.

Done's second was quality. Our defending is shambolic. Billy, despite blasting a couple over, is a class act and McEveley looked good.

No point over-analyzing things as it is the Third Division, but I'm guessing that result must have hurt Wigan and put doubts in their minds.

It's up to United now if they can cash in on the sheer inconsistancies in this division. Starting on Saturday (although Colchester, despite having the worst defensive record in all leagues, still have players like Sordell able to punish our shocking defence).

One last pont. NA's use of substitutes is often too late.

At 3-0 down it was up there with the worst Blades performances I've seen. To show the character we did is something to take away and we looked a threat every time we attacked thereafter.

3 stand out performances by a mile for me - Billy Sharp, Matty Done & Jay McEveley.

All showed the fight we needed to get back into the game.
Onto the next one. UTB!

Look at the pace, the directness and the urgency towards the end.
Start like that for gods sake!
Billy is my new hero by the way, I've not seen passion like that in a long time.

Another goal as a result of poor defending on the right hand side of the pitch which is becoming a concern IMO. We keep on conceding down that side and I suspect teams are targeting it as a weakness of ours.

Exceptional character to come back, Done is a goalscorer, simple as that. He needs to play up front and not on the wing where he's largely ineffective. He comes alive when feeding off scrappy balls or deflections in the penalty area.

That's what Done brings to the side never stops until it's out of play. His first was behind him and he dragged it in 99/100 wouldn't have been following up on Billy's shot but Done was. Got to start them two up top.
