Hecky

Right from the start I was worried today as they looked dangerous everytime the ball went forward we looked wide open.

I was thinking we were desperate for a defensive midfielder to shepherd the defense but looking at the bench today there was no one to bring on.

We have been crying out for a defensive midfielder all season I just hope we havnt missed a trick not bringing in some extra players in January as we really are threadbare right now.

Depends what players we sign when a load go out. If we ar eplanning on playing youngsters and not signing anyone then i agree

I think that's been alluded too already worryingly.
I know alot of our fans are blinkered when it comes to our Academy, but
Ndiaye, Jebbison, Gordon, Lopata, Seriki,
are all along way off being first team regulars which they well could be next season.
Some of them could even be sold to Premiership sides as development projects which is what they really are.

I didn't say we would go down this season.

Crap result is a bit of an under statement today.

Don't waste your time there isn't one.
I didn't join in the kiss Hecky's backside after the Middlesbrough game, because he's not actually achieved anything yet.
He was a cheap option with nothing on his CV to suggest he should get a job managing a club of Uniteds size.
Loosing 4-1 away to a team that’s only 6 points behind you at kick off is not great, but it’s not a 7 or 8 as Southampton tend to take once a season.

I agree on the last point about perceived cheap option but compared to the expensive option of Slav I reckon he’s doing oreet.

You shouldn’t kiss his arse when we win, but likewise maybe not jump on his case when we loose…..

Each to their own an all that👍

The only thing I will say in Slav's defence is he shouldn't have been appointed if the Prince couldn't back him.

Given the bench and the scoreline I'm not sure what would have been gained from throwing U23s on for their debuts.
Ffs it should have been changed at half time while still in the game
Gone 4-4-1-1
Gordon to Right Back
Osborne to Left Midfield
Hourahane off for Ndiaye
Ndiaye to Right Midfield
Berge central

It was obvious our shape was wrong from 20 minutes in. We were completely over run and gifting one-on-ones every 2 minutes.
Should have withdrawn the midfield to a back 8 and put Jebbo and MGW up front and keep hitting long balls for them to chase on the break. Trusting their abilities. Not a game for Sharp to shine in.
I like Hecky, but it needed an intervention like that Today. It was clear early on that we just hadn't the energy to keep up with their pacy lads, after running on emotion for 90 odd minutes v Boro.
Hecky needs to work on such a tactical switch or we'll fail in Play-offs or not get even in them.
Sort it Hecky. You need to be BOLD, not timid!!

He's got players who had turned crap under Wilder and stayed crap under Slav, back to playing how they could. Robinson seems to have improved to better than he ever was for us. Norwood improved too.
Today was crap, and we've had other off days.
There's no budget and Hecky has made the best of what we've got.
Will we get promoted? Possibly /probably not. Sorry if it's not good enough for the PL entitlement we obviously now have with some fans.

There was not much we could do with tactics or subs today. They were well suited to playing us, they were on it, we were not. In hindsight and maybe to preserve energy given the fixtures and injuries, you could argue we might have been better off, setting up to sit deep and try and use more breaks. But, we have been getting our results, through possession and pressing, so it would have also been a gamble and a lot of managerial vision to change that.

To his credit he has come in with no money to spend on players, turned our season round with nothing along with players dropping like flies half the squad disappearing been beaten by a good Coventry side and still 5th in the league. Just think he should be cut some slack to a degree.

He had COVID when we played Preston, so you can hardly blame him for that result, he wasn't even there.

Wasn't it Derby not Preston.
But whichever it was do you actually think he had no input into the team that was picked and the tack ticks, he might have even watched the game on TV and had a video link at half time.

I think with our record under Hecky, the very least he is due, is the benefit of the doubt.

Some people have unbelievably short memories, FFS 🤦🏻‍♂️

It's not one game though Derby, Preston, Millwall.
He seems very limited when we play well we look good, but when we are playing poorly he doesn't seem to have the skill to turn it around.
I am struggling to think of any game where he has made substitutions that have had positive impact when we have been struggling. There doesn't seem to be any plan B other than to bring McBurnie on.

12 fit senior players
55% win-rate
2/3 games per week, every week

It was bad today but some fans are looking for the first excuse to say he's not good enough.
So why the fuck didn’t he change the system at half time or prep for it if the same continued with appropriate changes to apply to the system tweak
That could have been 8 or more today
Look beyond today he’s stabilised us but some of our performances have been poor and ordinary and substitutions baffling and almost throwing points away due to substitutions yet results improved

Unfortunately McBurnie is the only attacking option. Maybe judge him with a full squad, it’s difficult to make game changing substitutions without substitutes. ☹️

Agreed yesterday was bad in the respect he did have little to choose from. But the other games no, very few teams have full squads to choose from.
It’s not always about bringing a Striker on, its can be about making little tactical changes.

All about opinions eh.

For me he's done what he can with limited resources on and off the pitch.

I'm giving him the benefit if the doubt, but i would agree that in some games he has been perhaps slow to respond when we have needed a tweak to the system during a game.

Given that, in my view at least, slavs replacement was the cheap option, it should be seen in that light. So if we're to change once again (I appreciate nobody is saying that yet) who do we go for except yet another cheap option?

He's done better than i thought he would, but must do better in some areas.

“”Limited resources “”

He has arguably one of the best squads in the league with two of the best forward players MGW/BERGE

Just wait till next year he’s in charge and we’ve sold them 🤣

In order to get a tune out of this squad, Hecky simply took them back to more a less the system under Wilder, and the biggest criticism of that system was the rigidity and lack of a plan b. Slav tried something different, these players couldn't/wouldn't adapt.

If a new, more flexible way of playing is to happen, looks like we have to lose the Wilder players and maybe even Hecky, but I think his approach is pragmatic rather than principle.

Arguably thebest squad yes but with …Goode, Davies, Basham, mcGoldrick, OConnell, Fleck,Brewster, Baldock, Steven’s, Bogle all not available to play, .. that’s ‘limited resources’

Go on I will give you that one, although they had only been on 2min when we scored also not even sure Jebbison had touched the ball.
What’s more I’d say Jebbisons inexperience probably cost us two points.

(The corner they scored from was his to clear, but he hesitated at the near post and the rest is history)

Surprising how similar this is going to the last time we came down from the Prem followed by the 2007-8, Championship season,
Old manager Warnock gone, new big named manager in, Bryan Robson who wanted to change the system, but failed and left . 12 Feb 2008 .
They then brought in someone familiar with the old system, Kevin Blackwell and we finished 9th ,
Hoping to finish higher this time, but even if by some miracle we did the whole hog and achieved "PROMOTION" Hecky is going to have an almost impossible job on his hands trying to keeping us up there without some spectacularly successful signings ,
IMO......
.
