I certainly hope so. It is the first time in my memory (not always perfect) that the board have managed to appoint the fans choice of the most popular option. Please god make the best of this appointment or there could be car park protests demanding HODGYMAN OUT! :)

Only time will tell but I won't blame the Board for this appointment they are showing metal and going for it, can't ask anymore.

I suspect we'll find out at the end of the season. I certainly hope so, can't be doing with all this chopping and changing!

Blank canvas, new era, renaissance, sleeping giant stirred from sleep <add your trite phrase here>.

Call it what you will, I'm getting behind the new boss so we can get out this sorry division we're currently languishing in!!!

UP THE MIGHTY BLADES!

yeah, this. adkins is nowhere near my first choice, but i'll get behind him.

at least until he spunks a load of cash on billy sharp for no reason

Most thought that last time didn't they?
they were many that were not happy with cloughs appointment given he hadnt won anything at this level. so no I dont think there was "most" who were happy last time, some simply gave him a chance, (some never gave him a chance at all) .... hopefully Adkins would be given a chance.

who would have been your first choice and why?

and who else would be above Adkins (given he is nowhere near your first choice?)

I hope it is Atkins otherwise the shops are going to sell out of eggs

Also I recall a poll after Weir left and Clough certainly wasn't first choice!

Out of those available then Adkins was top of the list for me....if we could have persuaded Robinson then either or. Warburton was the one I didn't want.

McClaren, but if we're talking realistic names then Warburton or Robinson, who've done more than Adkins recently with less resources and are probably cheaper to boot

not quite sure I aagree in regards to have done more than Adkins...

Warburton has just 1 promotion on his CV getting Brentford promoted in 2013/14 from League 1 to champion ship
Robinson has also just 1 promotion on his CV last season getting MK dons promoted after 5 years in charge...

Adkins on the other hand

Promoted twice from League 1 with Scunthorpe in 06/07 & 08/09, (with little money) he then got Southampton promoted back to back promotions from League 1 to the Premiership in 10/11 & 11/12...

Win Rate

Warbuton 51.28% (over 18months)
Robinson 46.91% (over 5 year)
Adkins 48.75% (over 12 years)

so who has actually done more....

as for wanting the Wally with the Brolly who has achived less promotions than Nigel Clough.... well I will leave that one....

We now have a man with four promotions on his CV replacing a man with zero promotions on his CV, this can only be looked upon as good news.

I would trust this man to get us up, if not next season (there are a lot of Negatives favourites and Dead wood to move on) then certainly in 2016/17.

He's not my first choice/preference, but he will have my full support just like every other manager we have appointed in my 40+years as a Blade!
Please let this be our time.
UTB!

yeah, let's focus on one game and ignore everything else on the cv. i'm sure someone who's actually won domestic trophies with clubs who are arguably smaller than us, won titles overseas with a tiny club in comparison to its rivals, and learned under the greatest manager of our generation couldn't hack it with us because he's never promoted out of league one. believe it or not, he actually did stuff to get the england job in the first place, he didn't win it in a packet of cornflakes

He's failed more than he's succeeded though. Did well at boro, winning their first ever cup and taking them to the Uefa Cup final. Then messed up with England, did well at Twente, failed in Germany, went very wrong at Forest and didn't achieve promotion at Derby.

Maybe not a failure at Derby as promotion isn't a given and at times they looked great. Suffered from injuries towards the end of his tenure but the Derby board were convinced his head was turned by Newcastle.

I wouldn't want someone who just saw us as a temporary measure til a bigger job came up. Particularly someone with a record as flakey as his.
