Milan Mandaric interested in buying crisis-hit club Rangers

Former Portsmouth and current Sheffield Wednesday chairman Milan Mandaric is interested in buying Rangers.

The administrators revealed on Thursday they had already heard from parties interested in the crisis-hit club.

And BBC Scotland has learned the Serbian - last week cleared of two counts of tax evasion - is one of those to have contacted Duff and Phelps.

Mandaric, who has also been in charge at Leicester, took over at Hillsborough 11 months ago .

More to follow.

and once you've read it...

Short term it's a kick in the goolies for our friends and their ego. But the bigger picture is that he was hardly throwing money at the pigs anyway and the crunch for them was always going to be who he sells them on to and when.

That looks like being brought forward a bit which could be good news or bad news for them depending on who the lucky new owner will be.

I always had a feeling that once he realised the pigs were not actually as massive or potentially as massive as they think they are (the lack of a 30,000 average must amaze investors) and not an easy profit maker, he'd be looking elsewhere.

Be ready for comedy gold as we hear our friends incredulity broadcast on forums and radio that anyone would think buying Rangers is a better option than being pig owner.

What was it Ron Atkinson once said? "Only a fool would leave Sheffield Wednesday"

Agent Mandaric seems to be doing his job well. He will be there just long enough to have enticed our blue and white friends from under their dark hidy holes long enough to believe they are the next European Champions and then do a runner and leave them while out in the open.

Has Megson mentioned Exeter and stevenages wage bill after the last 2 defeats ?

He's mentioned how much Ched cost (£3M+)and his alleged wages (£20K+ a week) and now our alleged wage bill (£14M+ and countered by SUFC as being <£10M) - all smacks of getting his excuses lined up to me.

There seems to have been a strange turnaround in the reality stakes.

All season we've heard how they're the biggest and best, but the first sign of them slipping and he's asking the question "why do people think we're going to skate this division?".
Because you told them that you dickhead, and because they're so deluded they were stupid enough to think you meant it.

Perhaps Mandy has him lined up for Rangers what with him being a bit Ginger.

Similary, if the mindless dribble of swine jizz didn't tell everybody to get ready for a visit from the biggest club in the known (and indeed unknown) universe and their accompanying billions of fans, or how they should go down on their hands and knees at having the singular honour of walking out at a half empty rust bucket on a flood plain on the way to Barnsley bestowed upon their pitiful souls, maybe they would'nt all play like it's their Cup Final.

Keep it up MDOSJ.

Wendy/Rangers merger to get Rangers entry into English football. Another reason I'm glad my Scottish side is Celtic. (Nothing to do with religion, just pick the kit out in Suggs Sport when I was a lad because the strips went the wrong way). Do feel sorry for the Rangers fan / Blade I got taking to when we were away at Carlisle.

That would be hilarious. The one outcome involving Rangers in the English League system that would be palatable...

No more grunters and champs lg for Celtic every year

I didn't realise that Mandaric was Italian until his attempts at deserting a sinking ship!

Reports are that he's categorically denied having any contact with rangers. Says "Rangers are a massive club, with a great history, and great fans, but i've already got that here at Sheffield Wednesday"

"Rangers are a massive club with 54 league championships, 60 cup wins, 4 European Finals and an average attendance of over 45,000....
But I've already got that here at Sheffield Wednesday".

He said Rangers are 'huge' Highbury. Even Mandy has been around long enough to know that the epithet 'massive' can only be used for those at the Theatre of Rust!
