Just been looking back on the 2013/14 season when, of course, Cloughy turned things round by "going back to basics" & making us tough to beat, albeit starting from a much lower base. Much the same approach that Nigel 2.0 seems to be taking now.

Although things clearly were to get (much) worse before they got better, we were at this stage, 14th December, in the middle of a 7 game unbeaten run. Of course this was to come to a juddering halt in January, when we had a stretch wherein we lost 3 out of 4, culminating in the Crewe debacle.

However, by then Brayford was on board as part of a busy January (as busy for outgoings as for incomings), & we were only to lose two more from the start of February onwards, going on two seperate 8-game unbeaten runs into the bargain.

Was wondering what folks thought about prospects for a similar type of second half to the season in 2016?

Three considerations, I suppose -

1. Could we expect a similarly busy transfer window (which I'd imagine we'd all agree to be pretty fundamental to significant improvement), given the unsettling rumblings seemingly emanating from the boardroom?
2. Could we afford to effectively write off January (as we did in 2013/14) as we made a transition into this notoriously hard-to-beat side?
3. Can we realistically expect any lengthy unbeaten runs this season, given that the best we've managed this time round so far - after the greatly promising 4-game winning streak in August - is 3 unbeaten way back in September?

1. No, probably not. NA did manage Scunny successfully though so perhaps him and Turnbull can find a couple of good cheap players.
2. May well do but it will consign us to another season in L1 with the usual sale of our best player and probable fall in season ticket sales.
3. Doubt it but football can be strange so you can't rule it out. A couple of good signings could make a big difference. Even with the current team we might grind a few out and build confidence as we do so.
