When you look at Burrows penalty, the keeper is basically telling him to go the keepers left, with where he is stood on the line and as a left footer Burrows should be able to smash that or even a weak effort drive in into the corner on the keepers weaker side. Both the penalties he scored for us last season (Swansea & Norwich) he went the same way as today but with more pace. I don’t know if he scuffed it or put off with the keepers positioning he was trying to get it more central as it wasn’t exactly tucked in the corner

Get bodies in box and shoot on sight..no risk..no reward
Add to that more crosses and first time crosses.

We are so easy to defend against pack box against 1 striker (who's not a target man) & possibly 1 midfielder trying to break into box, let us have the ball dither about force us (allow us) to play it out wide knowing full well we wont cross the ball.

We are far to slow in build up and opt to recycle. Its quite clear that with the plsyers we have and strikers available. 4231 formation just doesnt work, it didnt work last year for our attacking output. We was well comfortably mid table on attacking stats, we just outperform our xg and kept the ball out other end.

Not sure why any of the coaching staff cant see this. Yet us "PlayStation managers" can.

We got the recruitment all wring akin that to a league one side. We didnt improve on any areas, and havnt addressed the lack of pace and athleticism is the squad.

And dont tell me ogbene is a speedboat as I could walk faster (clearly lost a yard or 2 since his injuries).

All leeds did last season is get ball forward fast and break with speed elwith playing dibbling direct for 90 mins, crosses into box and bodies committed forward.

My grandad would have been able to see where that penalty was going. It was obvious.

If you watch players that take penalties properly they look as though they about to hit it to one side but it goes to the other.

Not us though. Let’s make it as obvious as possible!

We are struggling to score from open play. We need to create more from set pieces.

We wasted about 5 years of Jack Robinson long throws. Keith Andrews I understand was our set piece coach, twice this season I've seen Brentford score and almost score from 2 long thow-ins. What the hell was he doing at the Lane every week?

Start of the second half on Tuesday I couldn't believe the clever set piece play between Hamer and COH. The latter should have scored but it looked as though some type of work had taken place midweek.

I've criticised Jack Lester before now due to the fact strikers seem to arrive at the club and then seem to go on strike. He's left the club now and we still in the same predicament.

We've two weeks break now to get things sorted.

His confidence is shot.

Anyone think he was going to convert that penalty?

It looked like he was seeing a tiny goal with a massive goalie filling it.

I do think the goals will come, these players need confidence and I hope Chris can give it to them in the international break. With hindsight it was a poor decision not sacking Selles at the last international break.

I am no means a penalty taker but totally agreed not sure how some of the best are so calm. Even looking closer to home with Billy you had confidence it was going bottom corner at pace

Anyone playing up front is feeding off scraps , we're not even missing great chances , those that we do are rarely as a result of attacking play or build up .

Wingers cant seam to cross a ball , thought it was just Brookes but Ogbene and Barry Seam to have caught it too.

When we have an opportunity to get the ball forward early from a breakaway or procession turnover there's no one in the box.

Build up play is slow , laborious, predictable, if we do eventually get a ball in ,every defender is in place ,every player marked .

The problem as I see it isn't the strikers , its the way we play , the tactics , the formation.

Been saying this for seasons

To play one up front is a system that can work and has been shown to do so by many other successful clubs .

However , it is heavily dependent on having supporting players who can both provide clear opportunities for him and at the same time contribute to the goal tally themselves .

It has been obvious for a long time that , apart from the odd moment of of magic from Gus , we simply don’t have the players who meet those criteria and goes a long way to explaining our appalling record in respect of goal scoring.

That being the case and taking into account that Campbell is not the type of striker cut out for this role , the time has surely come him to be given a striking partner and from the brief appearances I’ve seen from Danny Ings so far I think he could be the right man .

I’m not saying that this would necessarily bring about an immediate and dramatic improvement , but one which could surely be no worse than those of our dismal efforts in this respect so far this season and must be worth a try .

Apart from Hamer, we don't play the percentages.

No early crossing, no shots on sight, no looking for deflections, poor corner routines, never break the lines, always checking back.

The team isn't set up to score goals. It was the same last season.

Wilder has tightened up the non existent Selles defence, but he's struggling to create chances and goals. It was the same last season.

Wilder has changed from a front foot manager in 2016, to a defensive manager since Covid.

Boring isn't it.

And had two excellent wingers and wing backs - plus a great flexible midfield and high class rotational forwards . Good C halves but a poor goalkeeper.

Yours sincerely

I hope you are right but to say Wilder, whose supposed asset is motivating players, I have no confidence in him at the moment to get any more out of them.

Since he came back he did no better than Hecky in that horrific PL season. You can give him something of a free pass though for that.

Then you’ve got the 3 straight defeats that cost us promotion. Couldn’t arrest that. Then that 2nd half at Wembley.

Now he’s back in a blaze of “told you so’s” and once again can’t seem to get a tune out the players.

Don’t get me wrong, he’s been handed a shit sandwich of a squad, assembled in blind panic on the back of a fag packet, but recent evidence tells me he’s not got it in him any more. I doubt the firing and rehiring will have done much for his authority in the dressing room either.
