There were highlights yesterday?

The most exciting thing to happen yesterday was the ongoing spat between the Blades ten or so rows behind us, the Gillingham fans who were in the same 'stand' as us but the other side of the netting and fence, and the stewards.

It was entertaining to begin with but when two Blades were chucked out it was less amusing. I in no way exonerate the United fans of blame, but what really wound me up was the lack of action over the other side, and the response when Gillingham scored was incredible with a dozen stewards and a number of coppers charging up the stairs to the away section. When we pointed out that they needed to be over the other side they just stood there and looked over the netting.

Naturally, I became involved in an animated discussion with one of the stewards at the end. Apparently one of the Gillingham miscreants had been removed, "the bloke with the blue beard."

Well, yes, there was a Mike Portnoy lookalike (the Mendonca family will know what I mean) in the group, but as we'd spent the whole of the second half telling the stewards the biggest troublemaker was "that bloke with a beard wearing a blue parka", I can't help thinking that there was a wannabe pirate mightIly pissed off at being ejected yesterday.

The truly shocking thing about this video is that there are two goals. I was so pissed off after the first went in I turned off the radio and went to the pub. Didn't bother looking for the FT score later. Fuck me.

The ongoing spat was started by a tall ginger bearded bloke a couple of rows from the back and standing as close to the segregation as he could, he was being an obnoxious prat from the moment I walked in ( and presumably before ), I think I'm the bloke in the parka you were referring to , and yes I did throw a few insults his way because he was being a dick, if he didn't like it he shouldn't have started it, as for the stewards being one sided it made a nice change because they're usually trying to find a reason to throw us out every home game, there was a group of young blokes in the bottom half of the stand on your side who according to the one decent steward who works that end of the ground were the reason the stewards lined up between the fans at the end as they had apparently been trying to cause trouble in the high street before the game, one last thing I would have to be a complete moron to try and start trouble with my 10 year old daughter there and its a shame a small minority of your fans only came to seemingly cause trouble ruining a decent blades following
