Can't help but feel this is a bit of a one way ticket.

He isn't going to make it with us.

That's not to say he won't make a career out of it, but when you're 22 and Arblaster at 18 is in the first team squad and Peck at 17 has also been training with them, then you know your chance has probably gone.

I'm not convinced we'll see Brunt back either. That move to Notts County was disastrous. Be a star man at Southend and then tee yourself up nicely for some league football. That seemed the trajectory. But now he's gone backwards after that experience.

To the youngsters, you've Arblaster, Peck, Maguire and Brooks all a fair bit younger.

It seems a good idea to send two youngsters out on loan to the same club. Easier to get both watched, and will probably help them settle and adapt as well. I've wondered why we don't do it more often.

Brunt has a great eye for a pass and Broadbent likes to make runs into the box, so I can see them doing well together. It does seem they're on their way out though.

Don't know why he's still here. Any good he'd been in squad or loaned to a league team.
I mean, maybe you won't like my reply, maybe you'll think I'm being patronising, but here goes....

One of the reasons George has been here since the beginning of the season is because Academy teams have to play with 11.

It can be helpful to have a relatively experienced youngster to sit alongside the less experienced (like Arblaster & Peck). Young players aren't going to develop unless they play with more experienced players. You can't just stick a load of very young players together at U21 level & "hope" it'll all work.

I've seen a lot of George. He's unlikely to get near our first team squad. But, he's under contract. And, it's been better (recently) to play him in an experienced, anchor, calm head role in the U21s. Rather than stick another 17 year old in.

And... I think we're a good exit club. If we feel a lad has progressed as far as he can with us, we don't just say - see you when we see you. We look after them, help them, advise them on their next stage, get them opportunities.

I think that is what is happening with George.

Or could be the next Eastwood? 🤣🤪

What’s happened to Maguire? Was on the bench a few times in the PL. I know he got injured for a while, but is he back now? Don’t seem to hear as much about him.

I’d throw in Harrison Neal to that list too. Doing well at Barrow.

Watched a bit of the game, Brunt started and did ok. Theres a.lot of big @@@@@@@ playing in that league so it's a great learning opportunity for the boys. Also I think B.W. is a good club who try and.play the right way.

Not even going to lie, I read this thread title as George Baldock initially. I'm glad to hear it's not, but it doesn't stop my boxers from being caked in shite either way. ⚔️

GLTTL.
I would imagine it's a modest fee but with a large sell on.
Hope he finds his feet in league football.

The bloke in my best mates pantry has told me its in the region of 650k.

I would be surprised if it was 10% of that. 20% sell on I bet

I have no idea why there is a general thought that transfer fees out of the club when undisclosed are tiny, and that we also should be able to buy players for a fraction of a realistic number (but if there's "add ons", the selling club will be "yeah, sure")? You would be surprised if they paid around what that behemoth of modern football, Stockport, paid us for Jim Gannon a third of a century ago?

i saw him play away at barnet in the play off game they won, he did well and looked good, but nowhere near championship level let alone higher. he should do well at donny.

Good move for him. He's not gonna get any minutes in the premier league and he's at an age where he needs to establish himself somewhere. Hopefully he'll get a steady career like Slater or Whiteman.

I wonder where this leaves Brunt? He's the better of the two but again he's not gonna play for us this season

The original youngster who had his development destroyed by a pointless loan move to Beerschot. Reckon he'll end up in the Championship on a couple of years. Has something about him.
