Did you know?

French Foreign Legionnaires celebrate 2 days of each year.
Bastille day.
April 20th. Adolf Hitler's birthday.
At war 2's end, and knowing they would be dealt with accordingly, many of Hitler's most vile and murderous SS troops fled to the French Foreign Legion. No questions asked. New identity. Anonymity.

Although in truth the Americans actually had the first pick - hence their space programme amongst one or two other forays abroad for which they recruited from Hitler's ranks.

Churchill would have liked to have recruited as well as the yanks but, as ever, didn't have the cash to attract that calibre of nazi.

Did you know that Adolf Hitler was born in the year 1889, the same year that Sheffield United FC were officially formed?

Actually they celebrate 30 April which, although it might be celebrating Hitlers death on that day, is in fact the date of one of their earliest battles , a sort of French Alamo.

I was told this by a neighbour of mine a while back. His brother packed in his job and joined. Served 6 years and took part in the 1st Gulf war Iraq.
Anyways. Looks like CBB's posting has been ruined, my fault.
