Throughout last season we conceded a larger number of our goals from free headers, mainly at set pieces. From what I could gather from Twitter in our game vs. Cheltenham (if you went, please confirm) free headers were still an issue. Hopefully this is something that NA has noticed and is prepared to address, where NC didn't. A few 6ft+ players will obviously help, but we'll still be in bother if the present players don't know how to mark a man at set pieces. Agree?

Approximately one third of goals come from set plays (including throws). This means that some big lads are a vital part of any team. Also need to be well drilled on who to mark and where to stand etc.

My point is the opposition scorers went unchallenged. And no tokens, we gave them away!

There were 4 free headers allowed by our lads in the game. 3 in the first half when the kids were on and one when the first team were on in the second half

We're a generous club we like to give free headers away every game.

Agree with OP about conceding soft goals on set plays last season. I think this was down to two problems, lack of height was definitely one of them, the other was a lack of proper leaders on the park that could organise the rest of the team, especially on defending set plays. The other edge of the coin was we scored very few from set plays and even worse, never creating much from them (that improved a little with Davies and to a lesser extent Higdon in the team).

At least one big, dominant centre half (Collins alongside can do the organising) is required and ditto similar at centre forward.
