However, I wouldn't be totally opposed to this signing. He doesn't really seem the 'Big Time Charlie' type, because he's never really made it, or been given a proper chance to make it at the top level. I've always felt quite sorry for him. He's been on the fringes of the Prem most of his career. Sunderland, Cardiff, Palace, Spurs have all had him on the books but none have ever really let him start 15/20 in a row and see what he can do. With that in mind, at 29, he'd probably come here with something to prove. I'd like to see what Wilder could do with him. Pace, decent ability in the air for a striker under 6 ft and creates chances for himself.

I'd not really want him if he wanted more than about 18-20k a week though. If he's willing to take a pay cut, it might show he's up for showing the desire he's going to need to succeed here.

To me a S6 not a S2 type of player . IMO he would shirk taking a penalty if the going got tough .

Sorry but you don't know this. You say a lot of negative things about the bloke but whenever I have seen him interviewed he seems on the level.

All about opinions I know but I think you are a little off the deep end here. I would argue that injuries and age may be a bigger issue though.

I know time flies but it doesn't seem 2 minutes since he was a promising youngster at OT.

He's certainly not go on to achieve what plenty expected but I don't know how much injuries have played it that.

No idea what his character/attitude is so can't comment.

If he's willing to take a pay cut to fit in with the structure then I'd give him a shot. After years or promising a lot and not achieving very much he'll be hungry for success if there's anything about him, and that's what Wilder wants.

Apart from him being on about £30,000 a week it sounds a great signing.

I can't imagine a player released after not playing much in a relegation-haunted team would expect to command particularly high wages. he'll have to take at least £1 less than Ched anyway

I remember him having a couple of half decent seasons in what seems to be forever, so he's either garbage and overpaid, or he's spent most of his career on the treatment table. Either way it's a no from me.

Just to add to my interest, I looked up on wiki.
